I rolled over, pushing off Alex's arm that clung tightly to my waist. I watched as his chest rose and fell in quick succession, what a beautiful sight. His hard torso gleamed in the morning sun, exposing his perfectly toned skin. I leaned over, running my hands over the strands of his hair. I glanced at his abs, quickly willing myself to look away at such temptation. I walked over to the rest room. Seeking some alone time before Alex woke up. “Good morning sunshine,” Alex greeted, stretching out his arms with a wide yawn. I paused right in my tracks, just as my hands held onto the door handle of the rest room. A smile crept across my face and I was about to turn over when Alex wrapped his arms around me. He sniffled me up close, clinging in firmly like a son whose mother had been long gone. “Why not join me in bed, we don't have to go anywhere today,” he muttered, holding me firmly. “Of course,” I said, followed by a sudden rush of heat across my face. My arms felt numb as he held me to his chest. “...I'll just freshen up and join you.,” I added, glancing back at him. “Are you sure?” he asked, peering over at me. I nodded affirmatively. “Okay then, I'll be waiting here,” he said, slowly retracing his steps back to the bed while he maintained eye contact with me. As soon as the contact broke. I dashed into the rest room and banged the door a little too loud. I slumped onto the floor, my breath coming off in quick succession. I further grabbed a towel and dabbed it over my sweaty face. I held on to the wash hand basin, as my breathing dropped. I dragged myself up and faced the mirror while putting on the tap of the wash hand basin. I further sprinkled some water to my face before dabbing it with the towel. I glanced hard at the mirror, wondering what had just occurred with Alex. I had only called him in a moment of distress, he was meant to be the closest thing to a family. But things had totally gone haywire, last night. First it was the kiss then followed by the raw display of passion. I held my eyes shut as visions of last night filtered through my mind. I coiled back, my back resting to the wall. I had just done the same thing I had suspected Ethan for. I shouldn't have done this, certainly not this way. However, it was an experience I'd give anything for. Alex had been so tender and for the first time in a long time, I felt like a woman, desirable by a man. Alex knocked on the door, “ Everything okay in there?” He asked, his voice slightly strained. “Everything Is fine. I'll be with you shortly.” I replied, wiping off my hands on the towel for the last time. I opened up the door and joined him in bed. He quickly rolled over and reached out for my lips. I held him off. “What's the matter,” he asked, shaken up a bit. “You know we shouldn't be doing this,” I paused, glancing at him. “Last night I was having such a terrible breakdown and this just happened, it never should have happened.” “Hell no, there's no mistake here. The only mistake would be me not being open about my feelings before now.” “What do you mean?” I asked, my lips slightly parting up. “Look,” Alex began, sitting up straight. “ I've always loved you right from our younger days. I just wasn't able to tell you sooner and that's the only mistake I've made.” “Wow, I never knew all this time that you were very much interested in me.” I replied, dumbfounded by the confession. “I have always loved you,” Alex assured, reaching my lips for a kiss. I gave in, holding him close as the passion ignited once more. Later in the day, I went home to meet Ethan picking up a few of his belongings. “Where have you been, you w***e!” he called out, taking a pause from what he was doing. “I owe you no explanation.” I returned back. “Is that what you think?” “You do know your well built up reputation could burn up in seconds if I decide to act on impulse. “You wouldn't dare, Violet. If I go down, you are going with me! All those are false claims. You're simply projecting your reality to me.” I nodded, aware that an invisible line had been drawn between us. I resumed at the office the next morning. I quickly got ready with my reports which were to be shown to the board. While I presented my reports, the board had their faces up in deep questioning. “There's been a sabotage in your report. You're our newest employee. You wouldn't want to be our newest fired staff right?” one of the boards asked. “Sabotage,” I thought out loud, scampering through the reports on my phone. The figures were in contrast with the one displayed on the screen. “There's been an issue,” I cried out, going over the reports once more. “Let me see you briefly,” Alex called out. We walked to the door as the board mummered among themselves. “Let me see your phone,” Alex requested. I handed it over. Alex studied the data on my phone and that on the screen. “How is this possible, since this reflects directly what's on your phone? There's clearly sabotage but the question is from whom exactly.” “I don't know,” I said, taking back the phone. “Anyone who could do this, certainly has some strong backing.” Just then my phone beeped with a message. I quickly unlocked it and saw an unopened image with a sender that had no name. I slowly tapped on the image. It loaded gradually while I held on to the door frame. I let out a stiffled scream as the picture was done loading. It was a picture of Alex and I walking hand in hand as we headed to the hotel door. The sender remained unknown.
