Episode Two

“Jesus Marie.” Richard yells in shock, I truly cannot hold back the tears flowing out of my eyes. “Was that true?” I ask the man I have been in love with in the last two years. “N-n-, what are you doing here?” Richard asks me instead. “Answer the question Richard.” I say shakily. “Yes, what he said was true?” Emily tells me with a cocky look on her face. “I wasn't speaking to you.” I weakly throw at you. “Well you are now.” Emily says. “Why are you acting so surprised dear sister, you knew this would happen, I asked you nicely but you didn't listen, now I had to drag him right from under your nose.” Emily puffs out. “Why are you so insane, of all the men in the world you can get, you choose Richard.” I tell at her getting frustrated and too hurt. “I didn't just choose dear sister, I love him, I am in love with him.” Emily says and Richard just stands there away from us. I hated myself even more in this moment for the fact that I truly knew this would happen but I hoped I could have more faith in Richard than my own sister and worst of it all, I felt betrayed but I do not feel any anger towards Emily, I want to but I do not, anger would be useless anyway, this was a usual game since our childhood, me liking a thing and fighting to keep it In case my sister would also like it and steal it with my mother instigating and condoning it all. “There's nothing we can do right now, I'm pregnant with his child, will you have your only sister give birth out of wedlock? Will you have me have this baby on my all for your selfish love. You will be ruining two lives Marie.” My eyes remain focused on Richard all through her words. I swallow hard before asking. “Is this true Richard?” I ask him. “We are getting married soon.” Richard announces not looking at me. “At least look me in the eye and tell me, what you feel irritated by my tears?” I ask him. “I didn't mean that Marie, I-” before he can finish Emily cuts him off hissing. “Tell her the truth Richard, I understand you feel guilty but be honest now, you promised me.” Emily whines. “I hope you burn in hell, both of you.” I say calmly before I leave. I leave Richard's penthouse with my heart bleeding heavily. I cannot stop crying as I run in the middle of the road, I can barely see anything past my blurry eyes. It happens so fast, I'm trying to cross the road and then a bright, blinding light and a loud unstoppable horn has me falling onto my ass. My harsh breathing only grows heavier by the second at what just almost happen. I barely notice the man standing in front of me. “Would you at least watch where you are going?” A baritone voice vibrates. “Are you hurt?” The voice asks again impatiently. “Miss can you hear me?” “Yes I can hear you.” I hiss out, taking my hands off my face and moving to stand. “Do you need help child?” A different voice says scarring me. My head turns towards a short man looking to be in his late fourties. “We do not have time for that Thomas.” My whip turns to the owner of the baritone voice and I almost gasp at his tall height. “Sir, I do not think she's okay.” The older man, Thomas says. “I'm fine.” I say to the kind man. “Are you sure child?” The man asks again and before I can answer, the younger man heads back into the car. The older man watches me with an apologetic look before also leaving. Rude much. I limp to the side of the road and luckily find a bench to sit on. It looks really bad, I think I sprained my ankle. I again do not realize that the black SUV has not moved. “Get in.” The younger man says as he gets down from the car, peeling the back door open. “I'm not going anywhere with you.” I merely say, with all that attitude he has on, he could be some sort of kidnapper. “You need a hospital.” The man says eyeing my legs. “I do not need your help.” I simply say and the man looks up, breathing in like he was holding back his irritation. “Didn't seem like it when you were blindly crossing the road and seeking some attention.” The was it and any thought of how undeniably good looking the rude man is disappears and all the pent up frustration I have been feeling from minutes ago come crawling in. “I do not need your help, I just told you. Why does every one of you rich folks always think the world revolves around them.” I say throwing my hands up, I couldn't even yell, I didn't know to. For goodness sake the man even smells filthy rich. “Well, point of correction, it doesn't and I do not need you, so leave me alone and be on your way please.” I end softly breathing hard and turning away from him. The man in front of me only quietly gets back into his car and drives off. I head back home ready to throw myself in bed and cry my heart out until I feel better. My Mother definitely had other plans though. “Marie, they you are, come.” My mother calls the moment I walk into the house with a huge smile on her face that scares me. “I have such good news for you.” She hollers and my father sits really still on the dinner table. “What is it?” I ask softly hoping it wasn't too obvious I have been crying. “Your sister is engaged and about to be married, and the biggest news is that she is pregnant, Emily is going to make me a grandmother, how exciting is that?” The ringing in my ear grows louder at my mother's words. “Do you know who she's getting married to?” I ask my mother and the 2 seconds before she answered felt like thirty minutes. “Yes, of course, it's Richard. The most eligible bachelor in the state is going to be my son in law. I couldn't be more proud of your sister. If I didn't not birth the both of you myself, I would have had my doubts that you were truly sisters.” My mother says chuckling. “Richard is my boyfriend Mom.” I shout.
