Ava's POV
Vanessa's eyes found mine from across the room. “Ava, come closer,” she urged as she waved her hands forward.
I felt everyone's eyes on me as my feet carried me to the side of her bed. “How are you feeling?” I asked slowly.
She gave me a small smile and reached for my fingers, squeezing gently. ‘I'm fine, Ava.”
I nodded and stood with my hands clasped together, unsure of what to do until Vanessa broke the awkward silence.
“Ava,” she started in a soft tone. “I want to apologize for all what I did to you in the past. That was cruel. No one deserves to be treated like that. I'm sorry it took me a long time to apologize. I'm really sorry,” she said, her voice thick with emotion.
