“Have you made your decision?" Kenzie slurped her smoothie, dark eyes fixed on me
I stared back at her. My sandwich remained untouched, and so did my smoothie. “About which direction I should go regarding a job?"
Kenzie put her cup down. “Don't play dumb."
Shoulders drooping, I whined, “Do we have to talk about it?" I'd been avoiding the entire situation for days. Very irresponsible of me, but trying to decide was driving me crazy.
“Just tell me you've dismissed the whole idea of marrying a stranger and we're done talking about it," Kenzie shrugged. When I didn't answer, she threw her hands up. “Dammit, Ruby. You're seriously still planning to throw your life away? Your freedom?"
“My freedom? Stephen Thorne isn't going to keep me chained in a dungeon under his mansion, Kenzi."
