Ezra's eyes scanned the ladies displayed for him. With his brows furrowed and his gaze more piercing than usual, he searches all their faces with intent. "Anything, my king?" Mario's voice broke the silence in the throne room. Ezra shook his head indicating his disappointment. He didn't seem to sense anything special in any of them. "I'm afraid not Mario" he sighed, "Are you sure of your vision?" He asked. "Why, my visions have never been proven false all these years, your Majesty" he defended. “I don’t know what is wrong. I’m sure that I saw well this time.” Ezra knew this for a fact. Afterall, Mario had been his beta even before he became Alpha! But when it came to the topic of finding his mate, Mario has been having serious troubles and only for hints. This was the first time Mario was really sore that he’s seen well on this matter. Could this problem lie with him? "Well I guess there's a first time for everything" Ezra shrugged as he turned around to leave. "Pardon me, my friend" Cameron's words stopped him. "Are you sure you've checked thoroughly? Beta witches are seldom wrong" he said, causing Ezra to reconsider. Ezra turned to his daughters again, each of them blushing and flirting with him with their eyes. Well they couldn't be blamed to be honest. The man was smoking hot! "Look carefully, my Lord and you might find that I'm the one you're looking for" Cameron's eldest and most narcissistic daughter Aurora, spoke up giving Ezra a wink. She was a pretty curly blonde with sparkling ocean blue eyes and white skin that would laugh at snow. Ezra's eyesbrows arched upwards in surprise. He hadn't expected any of them to be so........ outgoing. "I mean, think about it. A gorgeous princess like me with a stunning Alpha like you- talk a match made in heaven! I don't think we need any further examination, my Lord" she genuflected slightly and gracefully. Her younger sisters looked at her a bit spitefully. They all wanted him (like all the ladies he meets always do) but they didn't want to take the gamble of being too forward and risk him thinking that they aren't courtly. Clearly Aurora didn't care. "Why, look at her, Ezra," Cameron said, "The two of you would look great together. If there's any mate for you in this kingdom, it must be her." he sang her praises. Ezra wasn't moved in the slightest. Her beauty had no effect on him whatsoever (frankly, he had seen better) and her character and forward nature certainly weren't appealing to him (not that anything ever was). "I think I'll pass on this one Cameron. Mario probably saw it wrongly this time" he said, causing Aurora's other sisters to giggle a bit before returning back to their most noble, classy and elegant expressions. "Pardon me, your Eminence" Mario bowed, not that Ezra paid him any attention. He didn't even notice the bow. "I think I've seen quite enough Cameron. Your daughter Dahlia will suffice for now while I search for my mate....." "Why you....." The raging Lazarus arose from the floor like a zombie, staggering and glaring at Ezra. "Oh, you're awake already?" Ezra asked nonchalantly. "He's a tough one," Mario whispered to Ezra. "Sure is." Ezra smirked as the two Alpha's eyes were locked on on themselves. Cameron, sensing the tension, decided to take a quick action. "Lazarus, please calm down" he said as he walked over to Lazarus, "Our friend and colleague here has decided that he made a mistake and even apologized. In return, my eldest daughter would be pleased to have you as her......" "What?!" Aurora interjected as her sisters giggled discreetly. Cameron used his eyes to gesture to her to just play along. She clearly didn't get the hint. "I'd rather be a nun than get married to him, dad! Urrgh! I can't believe you!" She blurted before storming out of the room. "Aurora! Aurora! Wait up!" Cameron and his other daughters went after her, leaving Lazarus, Ezra and Mario alone in the throne room. "Don't you think for one second that I'll let you have her. Dahlia's mine!" Lazarus glared at Ezra who carelessly walked away with Mario. "Where do you think you're going? Answer me you bastard!" He yelled. "Shut him up Mario" Ezra ordered as they both left the throne room with Lazarus passed out again on the floor. Just where was his mate? ★★★ Clinky sounds of chains......... ‘Urrghh! I can't believe he really locked me up in here,’ Dahlia grumbled in her mind as she tried to wriggle her way out of the chains by which she was attached to two pillars, bound by her arms and feet. Ezra had been gone for over two hours now. Just where was he? She couldn't help but wonder when suddenly she heard the door unlock. ‘He is here’ her eyes widened in surprise and somewhat in relief. She still remembered the hot feeling in her chest when she first made eye contact with him just yesterday and had no idea what it meant. Regardless, she still felt thankful that she ended up with him rather than that old lecher. . . . "But sir...." "Quiet i***t! We've already made two mistakes because of your damn vision and I do not wish to make another" Ezra snapped at Mario who still insisted that they search the rest of the kingdom. As if the great Ezra would ever have anything to do with a commoner! "But it's not too late sir. She might still be lurking around the corner. We can't give up this easily" he pleaded, though his pleas clearly fell on deaf ears. "Well she better keep lurking!" Ezra barked at him, "Not only have we been here for three days without finding the so-called mate in your stupid vision, I wasted forty million! Forty f*****g million on this worthless...." He paused as he saw the look in her eyes. She couldn't feel any more useless at this point. Even the very person whom she hoped to be her savior considered her just as worthless as her step family did. "Hmph!" He sighed, feeling a little pinched by her dejected expression. "Pack our things" he said to Mario, "We'll leave before sundown" he ended before he walked out of the room leaving Mario and Dahlia alone in the guest room. "Tchhh!" Mario spited her, "For all the money spent on you, you could have at least been his mate. What a waste" he shook his head in disappointment as he packed up. Dahlia couldn't help the tears that now streamed down her cheeks. Was she bound to live in misery forever? When would this hatred and disgust ever end? ‘I will miss you, mom’ her longing thoughts echoed as she sobbed silently. How long would all this last?
