Juno ~
“I’ve been looking for you all my life,” his voice was so smooth and deep as his warm, hard body pressed against my arched back.
“I cannot see your face so I don’t know who you are, or why you have finally come to my dream,” his soft lips touched the pulse point of my neck in a feather light kiss and I bit back the abominable sound that almost escaped my throat.
“But I know you are the one, and I will find you, I will never forget the feeling of this body against mine.”
I tried to turn because I badly wanted to see him, there was something about this male, something that made me crave him to a point of bear madness even if I had no idea who he was.
I was only able to glance at his powerful forearms and my eyes widened when I saw pure black markings that seemed to be alive.
They moved over the hard muscles of his forearms unlike anything I had ever seen before and my fingers itched to touch them.
But before I could turn fully, I gasped awake and glanced wildly at the interior of the small carriage while my heart pounded in my chest.
Who on earth was that? It was not my stalker… no, this was someone else entirely.
My back still tingled from the feel of his warm body against mine.
But whoever he was, he was obviously mistaking me for a woman he was deeply in love with.
A bump on the road jerked the carriage and it brought me back to my current predicament, my strange dream was temporarily forgotten.
As a siren living amid werewolves, there were certain things that were a necessity for me. Bloodlust blockers and scent blockers.
My enchanted ruby necklace had been given to me by Mia.
It suppressed my bloodlust as long as I wore it, and I have worn it for long enough that I have never experienced bloodlust, ever.
For scent blockers, however, I usually snuck out from the pack mansion at ungodly hours to buy it from black market merchants because it was a highly illegal substance.
I didn't have the chance to get the blockers after I was traded to the Lycan king and now I was in a carriage, riding off to uncertainties that I could not even begin to imagine.
How would I get scent blockers? Would I even be able to?
Soon enough, the carriage came to a staggering halt, so sudden that I lurched forward and nearly hit my head on the velvet covered iron wall.
Had we gotten to Edoril already?
Edoril was the kingdom of the Lycans.
Once a long time ago, it belonged to the Dragons. However after the curse of the Dragon king, it fell.
Now, Lycans and Dragons coexisted within its four walls, however Lycans were at the top of the hierarchy.
I was grateful that Mia had taught me the histories during my training sessions.
The first thing I noticed was the chirping sounds of birds outside, they sounded so happy, but nothing was happy in Edoril as Mia had told me.
She said it was a cursed wasteland where the most evil and atrocious acts were committed without fear of judgment.
I moved to open the window of the carriage to see what it would look like but just as my fingers touched the latch, the door was opened so suddenly that I startled.
The guard’s large arm gripped my waist almost painfully, pulling me from the carriage.
Irritation coursed through me. “Put me down! I can walk!” I hissed angrily, shoving at his chest but he didn't budge.
I hated being manhandled almost as much as I hated the Lycan King and Dragon King.
He could have simply told me to get down and I would have.
The scent of exotic flowers blessed my nostrils and my brows scrunched up and I was even more confused than I had been when I heard the birds.
Flowers? In Edoril?
My gaze lifted and I saw not only flowers, but perfectly manicured gardens, maids and slaves smiling as they went about their duties.
As I was carried down the lavish halls of the palace, I couldn’t help but gawk at the well dressed noblemen and ladies that looked as though they had come out of an extravagant painting of some sort.
This was not what I was expecting at all.
I was suddenly dropped on my feet before a massive door and I gulped at the size of it. The broad hallway with arched windows on either side of it had been intimidating enough.
The guard knocked once and the sound echoed.
I had noticed the girl coming from the other side of the hallway too late and when she hit my shoulder, the pile of books she carried in her hands fell to the floor noisily and scattered everywhere.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t see you there,” she said as she bent to pick the books up.
“It’s fine, I’m equally at fault for not being observant enough to see you on time,” I said to her.
To my surprise, she said nothing in response and I bent to help her.
As I picked the last of the books, I noticed her fingers were shaking.
She appeared to be nervous as her eyes darted to the doors before me briefly before settling back on mine… I wondered why.
She tucked her red hair behind her ear and that was when I saw her face.
The slave girl standing before me was a mirror of myself.
I gasped in utter shock at the strange sight… how could two people who have never met have such a resemblance?
Was I perhaps seeing things now?
“You look like… me,” I managed to say.
The girl’s brows scrunched up in confusion before realization sparked in her eyes as she studied my face even closer.
But then she suddenly cast her gaze down, “I— I have to go,” she said and hurriedly sidestepped me.
“Wait!” I called out but she didn’t stop.
I moved to follow her and the guard beside me shook his head once, it was a silent warning that I would be foolish not to heed.
Just as the girl left, the huge doors before me creaked open.
And just like that, all the questions in my mind gave way to nervousness.
The guard beside me nudged my shoulder a little harder than necessary and I finally stepped into the room.
The sight unfolded before me.
The place was unexpectedly bright, with predominant colors of dark mauve sheer curtains over tall arched glassless windows and pristine white white walls, giving it a rather ancient appearance.
So much different from what I would expect the throne room of Edoril to look like.
I had so many questions for Mia.
At the far corner of the room, were three thrones. One massive one made of black obsidian in the middle and flanked by it were golden thrones that were just an inch smaller.
There were a couple of people in the room, probably there to bear witness to whatever the man kneeling in the middle of the room was there for.
The Lycan king stood before the man with his golden sword drawn and pointed at him.
I had no idea what was even happening, perhaps it was a rite of some sort.
But if it was a rite, the man kneeling would not look so visibly frightened…
My gaze moved to the thrones again, seated on one of the golden thrones was a male who I assumed was the Lycan king’s beta.
And a naked slave girl knelt before him, sucking his c**k.
My shock at seeing that sight was so visceral and potent that I would have choked on my own saliva if I was not also scared of drawing any attention to myself in this room packed to the brim with predators of all sorts.
But what sort of sick psychotic cretin was he?
My attention shifted back to the Lycan King when he tsked, “I think a public execution would be far more entertaining… and humiliating for you.”
“P-Please!! I’m sorry, Your Majesty!” The man cried.
An execution right here in the throne room?! Yet everyone seemed unfazed by it….
Well, at least Mia was right about the fact that they were barbarians.
The man pleaded as he was carried away and the Lycan King moved to sit on his throne.
But it was not the mighty black obsidian throne in the middle, it was the other empty golden one beside it.
Was there anyone superior to the Lycan king who the throne was reserved for?
There seemed to be a huge chunk of information missing in the histories Mia had taught me.
The Lycan king’s gaze fell on me and I flinched.
His fingers curved in a gesture that meant for me to come forward.
And as though I did not understand signs and gestures, the guard nudged at my shoulder again, more painfully this time.
I gritted my teeth in anger as I stepped closer to the throne.
Up close, I could see the several streaks of white on his hair.
Mia taught me that the more white on the hair of Lycans and Dragons meant the more powerful they were.
Just by that… I knew the Lycan king was immensely powerful.
His elegant fingers lit a cigarette as his dark green eyes searched my face as though he was looking for someone in me.
“There is something very interesting about you,” he said, taking a long drag and he had no business looking so good doing that.
“But that is too bad,” he said and my heart thumped against my chest.
“You have been brought here to feed the dragon.”
His words held no hint of emotion, they were as soulless as his eyes.
My heart dropped and dread filled my veins when his wirds finally registered in my mind.
They had a dragon? And he intended to feed me to it?!
Could it be the dragon king? It had to be.
According to the histories, The dragon king transformed to his dragon form centuries ago and was stuck that way ever since.
“Dragons are bloodthirsty beasts,” The Lycan King continued.
“In order to keep him in control, every century, a sacrifice must be given to him, and for this century, you are the perfect gift.”
My heart thundered within me and a cold sweat slid down my back.
“I cannot assure you it would be a painless death, but it is what must be done,” the Lycan king said.
The more he spoke, the more terrified I got.
Dragons could not eat Sirens according to the histories, if they did, horrible things I did not even know would happen.
How the f**k would I come out of this situation unscathed?
Suddenly, the hairs on my forearm rose and I felt that familiar essence, the essence of my stalker.
He was here now, only I could feel him or hear him.
I had no idea what he was, a lycan? A witch? Or something more… I did not know what sort of creature would have this much power over my mind.
I could feel his breath hot against my skin his presence was so close that I shuddered as he whispered in a deep, sultry voice that had been created in the depths of hell to seduce me.
“You appear to be in a lot of trouble as usual, Juno. Just how much did I miss?”
