Immediately, Mike drove off and I kicked back to reality. I waved at the nearest taxi and followed him. When we got to the hospital, he entered. I rushed out, only for the taxi driver to block me.

Taxi driver; Hey man! What the f**k is wrong with you? My money please.

Danny looked confused '' what did you say?''

Taxi driver; in anger '' I said my money. You think I brought you here for free? My man, I don't run a charity organisation. Pay me for my service to you.

Danny; oh! I'm sorry sir. I searched through my pocket and found some notes which I gave to the taxi driver with the echo keeping the change.

Taxi Driver; hmmmm '' Thanks man! But you have got to take life easy. You ain't the only man with a problem", then he drove off.

I rushed into the hospital just in time to witness the whole drama but I couldn't go far. I was just there at the entrance of the hospital crying my eyes and heart out.

I heard everything Mike said. Yes, I heard it all. He has loved my Lucy even before I met her. Now I know and see why he cared so much for her. I regret all my actions today and wish I had taken everything I said to Lucy back.

I watched as a lady told the doctor what to do, how they injected Mike and carried his weak,sleeping body away and that of my Lucy. I couldn't move from where I stood until my legs couldn't carry me again. I looked for a corner at that entrance and sat down.

I was still in deep thought when someone tapped me on my shoulder and when I looked up, I froze at the sight in front of me. It was the lady telling the doctor what to do. Does she know me?

Alias! I asked no one but myself.

Can I help you miss? I asked her but she didn't answer me. After some time, she started laughing and clapping her hands right in front. Yeah, she was mocking me and I deserved every bit of it. Maybe my ancestors came down in the form of a woman to teach me a lesson. I waited patiently for the punishment to come, maybe a thundering clap, but none came. Just then, she opened her mouth..

TESSY, looking at him in total disgust and anger. " Well! Well!! Well!!! Who do we have here? The human heart destroyer "she mocked. ''Are you satisfied now?

Tell me'', she demanded, but didn't give me time to talk. Obviously, I don't even have anything to say as my sense of reasoning has completely gone blanc. The moment she pointed at the room where Lucy was kept, I rushed in and was relieved that she was fine and awake. I walked straight to her and embraced her like my life depended on it. Of course it is.

Lucy my baby, I thought I had lost you. I held her and cried non stop.

I looked into her dull swollen eyes and her pains pierced my heart over and over.

Lucia, I am so sorry for letting you suffer so much. I hugged her again. I won't let you go through pain again. You are my responsibility. Lucia, forgive me for loving you and watching you suffer. From today, I will take all your pains away.

I love you so much Lucia. I moved to look at her face again but she was already asleep. I carefully laid her back on the hospital bed and squeezed her palms gently.

After watching Lucy for sometime, Mike stood up with anger and headed for the door, nearly bumping into Tessy who was still standing by the door observing them.

Mike, displaying an apologetic look, " Am sorry Miss, I wasn't concentrating" I said.

Tessy, nodding, knowing exactly what he meant " It's fine Sir''.

Mike looked up and was shocked to discover whom who said, " Tessy! What are you doing here? What am I even saying? Obviously, you already know what's happening if not all'', he said, faking a smile.

Tessy, smiling back ''It's alright Sir, I came here to see my aunt and decided to branch here after I found out that you brought Lucy here'' she replied in an innocent tone.

Mike signs in relief'' That's very thoughtful of you. Looking out for your Boss. Thanks for your concern, Tessy," he said, smiling.

Tessy; hmmm " So how is she doing Sir?" She asked.

Mike; ah! Looking a bit distracted " She is fine. Thanks for asking''. Mike replied, still looking into space unknown.

Tessy; mmm '' It's nothing Sir'' she answered.

Mike, rubbing his fist, " erm errm Tessy!'' He said.

Tessy, looking at him, " Yes Sir, what is it'' she asked, looking worried.

Mike; his mood had changed completely into a very dreadful one. " Take care of Lucy for me. I have an unfinished business. I will be right back. He said and left without looking back.

Tessy, looking terrified now, answered " Yes Sir, I will. Please be careful, she shouted into his hearing.

I stormed out in anger after telling Tessy to take care of Lucia for me. Of course, I have an unfinished business with Danny or whatever his name is. How dare he make her cry to the extent of making her lose consciousness?

Who exactly does he think he is? I was wrong to have thought that they look perfect together. I nearly lost Lucia, my Lucia, today. I am going to teach you a big lesson, Danny. Wait for me.

I checked on Lucy and begged a nurse to watch over her for me once in a while and hurried after my boss. I can sense danger, I can even taste blood. Oh God please come down, this is going to be a huge mess.

Dude! What the f**k are you doing if you don't go with him? I screamed in my heart. Immediately, they got into Mike's car and drove off. I rushed out of the hospital and waved down a taxi.

Tessy, pointing out "Please follow that ash colour pathfinder fast", sitting restlessly.

Taxi Driver; " Alright ma'am am on it". You know I was among the first people that drove the fastest cars in the world. Na we are the fastest cab drivers in town'' he said, smiling.

Tessy, now very restless and annoyed '' See oga, I don't have time for your ribbles. Make sure you don't lose that car, because if you do, blood will flow, faster please'' she shouted.

The taxi driver, now confused and scared, " Ah madam, don't kill me. I have five children and they are still very young. If I die, no one will take care of them. Please have mercy on me''.

, the taxi driver, pointing out and bringing the car to a halt, " Madam, look, the car finally stopped" he said, bringing me back to reality.

Tessy, smiling forcefully" Yes you are right, thanks so much. I want to strike a deal with you".

Taxi Driver; looking confused " what kind of deal ma'am?".

Tessy, forcing an honest pleading face, " I want to hire you for the whole day. I don't know how long this drama will last and transportation might be difficult. I will pay you double of your daily earnings. Just stay here with me, but first, you have to hide the car. They mustn't know that we followed them or that we are here.

Taxi Driver; now happy '' that's not a problem, ma'am. Thank you.

After striking a deal with him, I stepped down from the car and the taxi driver went and hid the car.Immediately Mike brought the car to a halt, he stepped down, went to where Danny was sitting and dragged him out.

Mike; folding his shirt sleeves " Today, I will teach you never to mess with a lady again''.

Before Danny could catch his breath, Mike gave him a heavy blow on the cheeks, causing his mouth to slit open and blood driping down.

Danny staggered backwards before landing on the floor.

Mike, now furious, " Stand up menh, hit me if you are man enough''.

Danny started to his feet but ended up on the ground as Mike sent him another yet heavy blow, this time blood eased it's way from his nose.

Mike dealt with him with several blows, then entered his car and drove off, abandoning him there almost half dead.

Immediately he left, Tessy and the Taxi driver appeared from their hiding place. Then they carried battered Danny into the taxi with the help of the driver and off to the hospital they went.
