20 Josie I’d been somewhat nervous about revealing to Alex that five percent of me still thought he might be a murderer, but he had handled it remarkably well. His question had seemed so sincere, I didn’t have the heart to lie to him. Besides, I prided myself on being direct and honest. There was no point in giving up on those two attributes at this point in my life. The diner was busy, but it didn’t take Aunt Mimi long to secure me a cheeseburger to go. She, Alex, and Hannah shared a bonding moment over the shocking nature of my distaste for lobster. I shrugged my shoulders, scrunched up my nose, and told them they were the ones eating bugs. It was a short walk to the beach shack, so before long, we were settled with our sandwiches at a wooden picnic table that overlooked the bay. Ale
