Entanglements

“Goddess I miss you.” Todd murmured as he nuzzled Amelia’s neck. Amelia moaned gently as his hand roamed over her hip. They were laying on their sides facing each other. Todd had lost some weight, he was looking a lot leaner than usual and she was worried he wasn’t looking after himself properly. “What’s it like?” Amelia asked quietly. Todd sighed. “The first two or three months was just following leads. Usually dead ends. We always found vamps but not the Original Sire. We just called in Hunters to get rid of them. Now, this. I just want to make my way over to that damn castle and burn it down. I want it gone. I want every despicable thing that ever happened there gone. I really don’t want to speak ill of my late grandfather but twice? Two times he let his guard down and look at the consequences.” “Well, in fairness we don’t know that to be the case.” Amelia reminded him. “I don’t even want to know to be honest. I don’t want to know because it doesn’t matter either way. He’s dead when I catch up with him. For every damned thing he ever did to someone I care about, I am going to personally rip his throat out.” “You must have seen a lot of the country.” Amelia tried to divert the conversation from Hadley. “We have but its hard to appreciate. I miss you and Mirabelle so much. It’s what we think about, what we talk about, more than anything. Uncle Jo is finding it really hard. He cant come home a reconnect like we can so he seems to have become a target for them. They play with his mind constantly. Will has had to put up a barrier to stop them getting in physically but we cant stop them intruding in his mind.” Amelia raised her hand and gently traced a line down Todds chest. “We miss you too.” She whispered as she leaned in to kiss his chest. Somehow he felt different, in a way she couldn’t explain. He was harder, he had more of a rough edge. And then it occurred to her. Years of torment and anger had stolen the innocence that had once been there. The Todd that used to blush at her nakedness and tremble when he touched her was gone. The Todd that had taken her to the zoo or to search through rock pools would never truly come home to her. In his place was this Todd. Tougher, angrier. “Do they ever tempt you, these vampires?” Amelia asked, instantly regretting it. Todd recoiled in horror. “They disgust me. I have seen them attack people and they are truly grotesque. They are different even to Hadley in a way I can’t explain. It’s like a sport to them.” Todd shuddered. “You said the Original Sire wishes to discuss an accord with you. Do you think you will agree?” Amelia asked. “The more I think about it, the more I believe it is part of the sport. If what Jaime and Ailwyn said is true, and naturally we have no reason to believe it isn’t, then she had no accord with my grandfather. She just had something to hold over him. I have no wish to discuss an accord. We need to remove her and the beasts that inhabit her castle.” Todd answered. Her. Amelia nodded her head, smiling. “Ugghh, I don’t even want to think about it when I am with you. Tell me more about Mira.” Todd smiled. Amelia laughed. “That child has sass the likes of which I have never seen.” She began. “I wonder where she gets that from.” Todd chuckled. “You know, I just can’t picture her with Wyatt. I mean, I don’t doubt they are mates, but they are just so different. And watching them together I wonder if it can turn from the innocent friendship they have now into the great love I hope for, for our daughter.” Amelia sighed. “He is a very serious little man isn’t he?” Todd laughed. “Mira is so carefree. She is quite happy to just run with the dogs all day.” Amelia laughed. “She reminds me so much of you. When I saw her with that bow and arrow set in her hands the other day all I could think of was you in the first year we met.” Todd smiled. “The days when we weren’t quite so exhausted.” Amelia remembered with him. “You are still as beautiful as the first time I met you.” Todd breathed, kissing her neck. He leaned in to kiss her lips, startled by how hungrily she responded. He laid on his back, rolling her on top of him. Amelia smiled as she straddled him, gently rocking as she leaned for ward to kiss him again. He reached up, wrapping his arms around her, desperately wanting her as close as possible. He felt his erection against her, her movements making him harder. He saw something, a movement. Was it in his mind or was it something in the room? He pushed Amelia back, looking around the room. “What is it?” Amelia asked. “I just, I uhh thought I saw something.” Todd muttered. He turned towards Amelia and for a split second he saw the raven haired beauty that occasionally stole her way into his dreams. He shook his head, trying to clear it. He blinked his eyes, it was definitely Amelia he was seeing. He grabbed her, pulling her on top of him. “I need you.” He breathed as he quickly entered her. Amelia moaned as she began to move over him, taking him into her over and over. Todd lost himself in the feel of his wife, his beautiful princess. He closed his eyes, giving himself over to her. Her moans excited him further as he began to meet her movements, thrusting up into her. “Todd, slow down.” Amelia whispered but he couldn’t. He needed her. Her movements changed and began to feel, foreign. He opened his eyes and stared in horror, pushing Amelia away from him. “Todd!” Amelia cried as she hit the floor beside the bed. As she stood she looked at Todd who was staring at her in horror. “What is it?” She asked, standing back until she had some answers. Todd stared around the room and then back at Amelia. “For a moment I thought I was with some one else.” Todd muttered. “What are you talking about?” Amelia asked, concerned. “It was her, one of the vampires. She was in my head.”
