3am Visit

Rose opened the door, her head still not clear from being roused from her sleep. “Are you Rose, daughter of Magan and Luna of the pack known as ‘The Village’?” One of the three men standing on her front porch asked. “Who are you and what are you doing on my porch at 3am?” Rose demanded. “Are you Rose?” The man asked again. “Yes, I am,” Rose replied. “Are you not a vampire?” A second man asked. On closer inspection, Rose realised she was addressing a dwarf, an elf and a werewolf. “I am and again I ask you why you are on my doorstep at 3am?” Rose demanded. “3am seemed appropriate since you are a vampire.” The third man shrugged. “If you knew I was the daughter of Magan, then you also know I am a hybrid. I sleep at night.” Rose muttered as she discreetly pressed the duress button located just inside the door. “We wish to address your full blood werewolves.” The werewolf stepped forward and announced. “We are setting up a council and would like to invite any full bloods who would like to be involved. This is simply a courtesy call, since there is no way for you to actually stop us. We will address the pack tomorrow at 10am. Let everyone in both the Community and the Village know.” Rose shrugged and nodded her head. “Where is your Alpha?” The werewolf asked. “Out of town on a personal matter,” Rose replied, as the first of the warriors arrived. “Are you OK, Luna?” The warrior asked. “How can you call her Luna when she is not even a werewolf?” The elf spat angrily. “What is wrong with you people? Since when do you bend a knee to half breeds?” “Because we aren’t bigoted. We accept people for who they are.” Phillip snarled as he arrived on the scene. “Says the father of the gay wolf. And mated to a vampire no less.” The werewolf chuckled. “I’m amazed you would show your face in public.” “I have no reason to feel shame. My son is a leader, a thinker. He is acting Alpha and is contributing to his community.” Phillip stood proud. “Then why was he given a male vampire as a mate?” The werewolf spat. “Because together they can do anything,” Phillip smirked. “Your son is a stain on your family name.” The dwarf said, the disgust on his face was evident. Phillip stepped up to the dwarf until they were face to face. “Say it again, I dare you.” Phillip stood over the dwarf. “I will say it as many times as is needed for you to understand. The fact that they would leave a gay, vampire loving werewolf in charge instead of a full blood Alpha with a werewolf, Luna is exactly the problem we are seeing now. It is unnatural for kinds to be with other kinds. It is our leaders' responsibility to ensure a pure bloodline, but this has not happened for many generations and we find ourselves in a total mess. Now, we will return at 10am and we will expect to see the werewolves from both communities on the oval waiting.” The werewolf snarled in Phillips' face. “The community and the Village are free to do as they please.” Rose said, holding her hands up for calm. If they choose to attend, they may, if they choose to join these men, that is also OK.” “Please ensure everyone is told.” The Elf scowled as he turned and walked away. Once they had left, Phillip turned to Rose. “Are you OK, Luna?” He asked. “I didn’t know about Jonathan.” Rose smiled. “I do know Macey and Patrick are together, so that leaves Jay. You are right, they are one hell of a power couple.” “They definitely are.” Phillip agreed. “Only, I just found out about them seven hours ago and considering, its night time it seems strange that three strangers from another world know about it so quickly.” “We need to go see the Vamps now. Something is going on, they are recording us somehow.” Rose whispered. Phillip nodded. “Let me get changed, I’ll be back in five.” Rose said as she shut the door. Phillip nodded as he mind linked Jonathan. “Son, are you with Jay?” He asked. “Yes.” Jonathan’s sleepy voice replied. “I need you to make your way to their base. Something isn’t right,” Phillip replied. “Be there in five,” Jonathan replied. Jonathan got out of bed and pulled on a pair of jeans and a hoodie. “What’s happened?” Jay asked. “Dad just linked me, he said he needed to meet me at the base.” Jonathan mumbled. “Give me a minute to get dressed.” Jay said, jumping up. Jonathan nodded. They made their way down into the basement and through the tunnels to the Young Vampires' base. They took a seat in the main room and waited. Moments later, Phillip and Rose appeared at the door. Jay went over and released the security lock, letting them in. “Hey son.” Phillip smiled, giving Jonathan a hug. “And other son.” He winked at Jay. Jay blushed as he smiled in return. “What is it?” Jonathan asked. “I was just woken by three men, a dwarf, a werewolf and an elf. They are demanding a meeting, something to do with full bloods?” Rose began. “What?” Jay asked, looking at Jonathan. “All I know is that there have been issues in the elven realm around King Ailwyn having a Fae wife and half blood heirs. Apparently, the elves are very prickly about it.” Jonathan shrugged. “So, there’s more. They knew about you and Jay. Now I’ve known about seven and a half hours, so have you told anyone else?” Phillip asked. Jonathan shook his head. “Macey and Patrick guessed, but no, I haven’t said anything. I wanted you and mum to know first.” “Well, I really appreciate that son, but it means we have a problem because they knew.” Phillip shrugged. “It can’t be surveillance on the house because you use the tunnels to move back and forth.” “If they are from the other world, it’s unlikely to be any form of technology,” Jonathan thought aloud. “If they’re from the other world, how did they get here?” Phillip asked. “I thought there were now limited portals.” “There is, so they have magical folk working with them.” Jonathan muttered. “We need to see their portals, sometimes we can read things about portals,” Rose added. “The circle around this needs to be kept small for now.” Phillip said quietly. “I’ll speak to the patrols about being more pro active and reporting anything even remotely suspicious. I will ensure every warrior is on that oval tomorrow no matter what.” “I’ll contact James in a couple of hours and let them know. I think this is something they would want to know about,” Jonathan said quietly. “Agreed,” Rose said quietly. “I will get anyone with any magic out tomorrow too to try to get a feel for the magic being used.” “You know, that’s not something I know an awful lot about, but I’d be really interested to learn.” Phillip said thoughtfully. “Me too,” Jonathan agreed. Rose nodded. “We can arrange that, but for now, why don’t we try to get some sleep? We’ll meet tomorrow at the oval at 9am.” “Today, we’ll meet today.” Jay sighed. “Right, today.” Rose smiled. “I will walk you home and we will put a couple of guards on your house, just to be sure.” Phillip said to Rose, and they walked towards the door. “Hey, take care out there.” Jay said as he walked towards the door to lock it behind them. Rose smiled and nodded. “You too, son.” Phillip smiled, squeezing Jays' shoulder. They walked out into the cool morning air and Jay shut the door behind them. “Man, I really like your folks.” Patrick sighed. “They make me miss mine a lot.” “Same.” Macey agreed. “They are pretty amazing. It must have been an awesome childhood growing up with all that love and attention to yourself.” Jay smiled. Jonathan looked away but Jay caught the tear in his eye. “Hey, did we say something wrong?” Jay asked. Jonathan shook his head. “No, it’s just I’m not an only child. Not technically. My oldest brother died the night King Aldrich and Queen Ingrid were killed. My middle brother in the battle at the dwarven castle. I think they’re pretty happy I didn’t become a warrior.” Jay walked over and embraced Jonathan. “I am so sorry,” He whispered. “That’s why mum freaked a little about the grandkid thing. I’m the only one left that can give them any.” Jonathan smiled. “We have science on our side there, Jonathan. One day,” Macey smiled. “One day,” Jonathan agreed.
