Chapter 13: Offering Condolences

I saw Cayden standing in the garden with his hands in his pockets, I could tell he was in deep thought, he had been going through a lot from what I had gathered in our universal link to each other. I realized he was watching Princess Allison and his daughter, I walked over to him, and he smiled, saying, "This sucks, Lear, my daughter is right there with the woman I love, and they don't know me like that." I smiled and said, "You will have your family back, Cayden," he looked at me and said, "I hope you find your mate," before it was time to say goodbye to his father. The funeral was fit for a king, we were respectful, and hearing Micheal give his speech without stuttering was refreshing, although it won't stop me from annoying him when I get the chance. Prince Desi set the Pyre on fire, and we gave our final salutes to a fallen comrade and friend.

Kiko held my hands and smiled, he decided to join me for this occasion, and I was glad he came, he was supportive, and I respected him for it. I also wanted to go to the archives and look around for clues to help track my brother down, he was last seen in this territory during the civil war years ago, and he might still be here, hiding in plain sight. Michael walked over to me and shook my hand, we shared a joke in honor of his father's life that he lived, he was willing to give me access to the archives, but Omri kept his distance and I understood he was busy. Kiko asked me about mating a few days ago, and I put it off because I was still holding out for my mate, he didn't pressure me though, and honestly, I would mate him, but not right now. I kissed his lips and looked at my watch, it was getting late, and I knew the immediate family wanted their privacy, I said, "Let's go back to the hotel."

Kiki smiled, and I started to head out, I looked around to see if I could meet with Omri before I left, but he was out of sight, I said goodbye to Michael and headed to my car. This guard nodded at me and I stopped to watch him go down the corridor, he had a familiar scent on him, and Kiko took me out of my thoughts, asking, "What is it, Lear?" I looked at him and said, "Nothing, babe," and walked out to the parking lot, I saw a van speeding off, and as soon as I started the car, I got a link about the missing princess. I drove off in the direction of the van, I mind-linked Michael about where it had turned, but for some reason, we couldn't find it or pick up where it disappeared to, I was pissed off and saw Michael and some of his men in the sky, along with a very pissed-off Supreme. I returned to the Palace to help with the search party, but Ty told me, "Stay on the road and keep your eyes open, Lear, then you report back to me."

Later that night, I had the task of monitoring anything suspicious, I was back at the hotel and Kiko was working with Michael's elite team. My father called me and I picked up the phone, he asked, "Did you have any luck locating any information on Lucas?" I told him, "No, I didn't because I am busy looking for Princess Autumn," Aidan and Ty weren't pleased about someone kidnapping a child and wanting to get her back, kidnapping a Supreme's grandchild was a death sentence. I admitted that it took balls after these guys came back with revenge on their minds, and to shape Ravena for the better, it was late, and I lay on the bed when Kiko returned. He said, "They have a location on the girl, and would be extracting her soon," I smiled getting up and kissing his lips when he said, "There is more, Michael is in a coma." I froze, and Drax filled me in when I linked him, I decided to get some sleep because I was exhausted, and I couldn't do anything to help Michael right now.

I was busy handling everything and Pearson told me, "Relax, boss, we got everything covered, go be with your family," I smiled, hugged him, and walked back to where the others were. We were talking, and I saw that Cayden had left and Allison was nowhere to be seen. Bradley had disappeared, and I walked around to see if I could find the fool when the alarm went off, I turned around to find out that Autumn was missing. Allison was hysterical and Bradley had lipstick on his neck, I knew exactly what he was doing, and I just let it go to find my niece, Cayden tried not to panic, especially in front of Bradley, because he didn't know Autumn wasn't his daughter. I couldn't believe someone pulled this bullshit at my father's funeral, I was going crazy and needed to be strong for my brother, who watched his daughter from a distance and felt helpless.

I took to the skies with my Elite Team, they are the best of the best, and we have a great relationship, with our unique job when hired, we never lose our hit or miss our target. This situation was different, my niece was missing and a lot of people didn't know she was my niece for her safety. I trusted my team so they knew about Autumn's paternity and swore to keep the secret, Ty was with us as he was trying to get a read on the area, but I also felt my brother's panic, and I was scared for both of them. I am usually the quiet one, the one who never speaks unless I need to, I watch and observe and there is something fishy about this whole situation. I never trusted Bradley, only time will tell what we are up against or if he is involved somehow. I saw Lear's car as he tried to find the van he warned us about, but it disappeared, and I was furious.

Moments into the search, my brother mind-linked me about our progress, but I broke the news that we got nothing, I wasn't giving up and he knew this. I believe there is more to this kidnapping and I will head back to the Palace to regroup, we have traitors in our court, and we need to flush them out. My brother doesn't even see the snakes that Lord Fehmir and his daughter are, they are threats to the throne and I can't wait to end both of them. Ty was pissed, and we could feel it, this wouldn't end well for those who took her, even my men could feel his aura from a distance, he was concentrating hard on the area to find his granddaughter. I could almost taste the c*****e that would happen when he found her and I would watch as it happened.

I looked at Pearson getting dressed to attend a funeral, he looked sexy in his suit and I smiled, he just f****d my brains out again, and I admit I love this part of the job. It's been a few weeks since we have been together, and he seems incredible, he doesn't tell me anything because I am new, I have to play my cards right, and I will be free from the clutches of Queen Esmerelda. I also know she had other spies here working with me, I see a few of them around the Palace and know Esmerelda will learn about the Royals and their plans regardless of whether I give her information or not, I would give her the information because I wanted my freedom. I got off the bed and put my boxers on, and I help fixed Pearson's tie, he smiled, and I said, "You will have to tell your friends about me if we are going to keep f*****g each other." He smiled and said, "In time, let's take it slow," I agreed, he left my apartment and I got on the laptop, hoping to see how much of the funeral would be televised.

I also tried to keep track of what happened in my ex's pack after I left, but it was like nothing happened, I wondered if I was finally free from them tracking me or if they were wiped out because of his ties to former King Roman. I wished there was a way to find Jones, I don't know if he was alive, I tried calling his old number, but it was disconnected, I was brought out of my thoughts when I got a glance of the stranger I fell in love with years ago, but it was for a split second. It couldn't have been him, I smiled because I was crazy to think I could ever be with him again, he was probably mated and had a family. I shut the laptop when I got a call from Esmerelda, she was checking in, and I told her about what little I knew, she demanded that I get mated to him, so I would be privy to information that could be shared with a spouse and I know I had to make Pearson fall in love with me to get his mark.

I fell asleep and woke up to the Supremes warning culprits to return Gamma, Ty's granddaughter, and I was shocked that someone had the balls to pull that off. They were crazy, Pearson called me and said, "Hey love, I won't be home for a few days, you know where to find my spare key, be there when I come home." I smiled because I was getting the job done and packed a few things to go over there, I found his keys and walked inside, his apartment was huge and had great views. I always loved coming here, I was able to clean up a bit and make myself comfortable, I messaged him back "Give the Fae Twins my condolences," I felt bad because I knew who had killed the king, but I had another mission and stayed in the apartment until Pearson came home a few days later exhausted and wanting my comfort.
