“Madam, you have company!”
Ginny looked up into an unrecognizable face and a pair of harsh eyes she was certain she’d never seen before. This scowl certainly didn’t belong to her sweet Scarlet. How many times must this woman have spoken before she realized she was even in the room?
“What’s that?” Ginny asked, seeking clarification more than repetition. She was certain she had heard her, but what the stranger said made little sense to her. She hadn’t had a visitor in so long Ginny couldn’t even remember when. Months? Years, perhaps? No… it couldn’t be years because the baby was, after all, still a baby…. She had missed it. The woman had replied, and she had missed the answer. She was walking away now, muttering something about not even recognizing her own husband.
