A bunch of goons were making their way down the flight of stairs. I quickly counted, there were 5 rushing down the flight of stairs, possibly more coming after. I decided to use Tailwind to quickly propel myself towards the goons.
Tailwind is the official named technique I gave to whenever I used the winds to propel myself forward. When you think about it, this technique was such a simple technique.
The basic principle of using the winds to quicken my movements is very simple, but under this technique lies the foundation for the other moves that I'm capable of using in Blade of the Four Winds: Zephyr, the gentle breeze".
I made quick work of the five goons that I dashed into. More goons came flooding down the flight of stairs, but because of this they were all making their way down single file which made it easier for me to just pick them off one by one. I slowly made my way up the flight of stairs as I kept slashing at the many goons that came from the second floor.
Upon reaching the second floor I quickly scanned and analyzed my surroundings. There were loads of crates and containers stacked on top of one another in many different rows.
"If this is where the goons were coming from then why is it so quiet in this floor?", I ask myself.
So I slowly made my way around the maze of crates and containers. It felt like a labyrinth with all the crates and containers that were stacked on top of one another so highly that it seemed to touch the ceiling.
I walked slowly, my guard was up. With the way this whole floor is set up, anybody could surprise me and attack me from any direction as long as they hid in the crates and containers. And funny enough I was able to pick up on one.
Because of my affinity for the wind and the fact that I would always get this weird eerie feeling that follows me whenever I face danger, I am able to pick up on small sounds, movements, and whatnot whenever I am on high alert.
I heard the faintest rustle that came from the pile of boxes to my left. Someone was definitely in there. And as I think that a figure comes flying out from the pile of boxes.
If I wasn't able to notice and react to this fast enough I would have definitely had my head chopped of by now. As I look in front of me, my assailant was a girl dressed in baggy clothes that were all black.
"To be fast enough to react to my attack is a testament to your growth", she said.
"However, I will make sure to serve your head to the Head Hunter!", she shouted as I she leaped at me once more.
She was quick. If I didn't have Tailwind I would have definitely been dead a few moments ago. It was taking my all just to block and dodge her barrage of fast attacks. She used twin daggers, normally since I use a sword, I would have to reach advantage on her but she was inhumanely fast. She was able to constantly bridge the gap between us, always almost sinking one of her daggers in to me if it weren't for Tailwind barely keeping me alive.
This girl was probably faster than Eddie's second form of Stockpile. Her motions were strung together very well, each jab towards me flowed in to the next.
It was getting harder and harder to catch up with her, it was a good thing that even though she was insanely fast, most of her attacks that would connect were easy to block or parry. She was quick but she lacked power.
She lunged forward, but at that same time I gathered the wind around the tip of my blade to send out a Wind s***h to force her to dodge and give me space. Because of my affinity with the wind, in certain moments I am able to hear faint sounds. Under her breath, I hear the faintest "Spike".
From what I saw, it didn't seem like she moved at all and yet after muttering "Spike", multiple cuts and slashes appeared around different parts of my body.
"Was she that quick that I wasn't able to see that attack?", I ask myself.
Once again she muttered "Spike", though this time I was able to see a quick glimpse in her movement. I was still left with more wounds though.
This was betting bad quickly. I can't afford getting injured anymore, I had more people to face. The moment she mutters "Spike" I just have to immediately use Cutting Winds to counter attack. In the quick that I saw in her previous attack "Spike" was a fixed set of attacks. I could definitely counter it with Cutting Winds since it too is a fixed attack that comes from my 5 rapid sword strikes from "Blade of the Four Winds: Zephyr, the gentle breeze".
This was a good counter to her "Spike" since Cutting Winds allows smaller blades of winds to be released from each of the consecutive five sword strikes. Even if she evaded each sword strike, each of the small blades of winds would eventually connect and hit her. I had to try this out.
And once she finally used "Spike", I just blindly used Cutting Winds.
I was correct. "Spike was a fixed set of movement and instead of using it to stab at me she had to use it to block my sword strikes. She was left with multiple gashes. I was right to think that she was a glass cannon, she had extremely powerful firepower. She could dish it out but can't take it.
I finished her off with a quick s***h aided by Tailwind.
Eddie drilled in to my head that I could not afford to leave behind any survivors. These were people hired to kill me and that it I ever spare them their life it would come back to bite me later on.
I quickly patched myself up as best as I could as I continue to walk around the maze of boxes and crates.
