A Very Literal Journey to The West

1020 Words
This past month went by quick. During the daytime me and Eddie would just continue to spar with one another. For the majority of our sparring I kept on working on polishing Pirouette of Spring as I fought Eddie in his  "Stockpile First form: Swift Release".    I wanted to match Eddie's speed. From time to time Eddie would throw in a couple of his "Stockpile Second form: Golden Fists", which helped keep me from getting distracted and getting complacent with his speed in his first form.    We'd start training at around 5 in the morning and end right after eating lunch. Since we were heading west, we wanted to at least have some pocket money so we decided that at night we would pick up a part time job to some pocket money just in case we ran out.     Luckily, since Eddie absolutely adores the fast food burger shop that he always buys takeout from, he managed to get us a job working the cashier. I was fine with it but my mind would always wander while I was on duty. All I could ever think about is what's gonna happen in our travel.    We already planned to use Eddie's rundown Toyota Corolla to get ourselves there. Eddies said that even if it was going to be rough it would be safer than commuting all the way there because who knows what kinds of traps Head Hunter has in store for us.    Eddie told me that tonight was the night that we head out west. He estimated that it would probably take us three or four days. Our travel time depended entirely on Eddie's old Toyota Corolla, since we could always rest up in the car and if we were to check ourselves in a hotel or motel we would just be there to take a bath and rest up a bit.    I was packing my things as I hear knocking coming from my front door as I hear Eddie's voice asking me to open the door.    "Not done packing yet?", Eddie said.    "Just a bit more then I'm all set to go"    I wanted to pack lightly but I kind of knew that since we  were heading west anything could happen to us so I just had a bag filled with different first aid kits and whatnot. I knew that I was probably going to use these all up since Eddie isn't really affected by most attacks.     After I got finished with packing, we headed outside to load up the trunk with our bags. I brought with me two bags, one for clothes and the other for first aid kits. Eddie on the other hand only brought with him a bag for clothes.    As soon as we hit the road I immediately fell asleep. This past month has been quite hectic and not once have I had the moment to take a brake for myself. It was just training in the morning and work at night.    When I woke up, Eddie was still driving. He told me that I was asleep for about an hour or so.     We drove for another hour as I looked out the window as we passed by other cars. We were nearing a stopover so it was a good time to buy something to eat and drink. Since I had a bit of pocket money on me I think I should by a few snacks so that we could have something to eat while on the road.     "Listen kid, if you need to pee or take a dump now is the right time to do it. The next stop over is 4 more hours from here and we ain't pulling over if you need to relieve yourself while we're on the road.", Eddie said.    After we head to the restroom, Eddie and I decided to head to the convenience store nearby. They  were selling hot dogs and donuts as well as instant coffee so we bought some and ate it there. I also bought  a few bottles of water as well as a few snacks so that we wouldn't be hungry or thirsty while we were on the road. Since each stopover was quite far from one another.  We head back to the car and as Eddie began driving again we made small talk just to pass the time. I didn't want to jinx myself because we've only began driving for a few hours now and we still had three more days to go. But I would say that so far so good. It's been a relatively safe and smooth ride since the first stopover.    Because of how we thought Head Hunter would start moving once he found ought that we were leaving the city and heading west to the port harbor. I kind of expected that as soon as we leave the city we would already be in some deep s**t. The people that Head Hunter that I've encountered recently were all such scary opponents. Pistol Pete and the girl who used those daggers. All of them were crazy strong and I know for sure that if I were to fight them without the element of surprise I would have probably died.     Even the goons that were there in the abandoned warehouse were quite strong. I just so happen to have a technique that worked well on them as well as attacking them when they least expected it.    In fact, if Eddie weren't there and I went by myself I would have probably already died. Eddie managed to handle pretty much all of the reinforcements that came after I headed upstairs. If it weren't for Eddie I would have for sure been outnumbered and killed.    I guess that's also a testament to just how strong Eddie is. These people that Head Hunter gathered aren't chumps. They're the real deal and Eddie could just solo them so that I could have less opponents to face.    Once things have died down a bit I should give Eddie something as thanks for everything he has done for me so far. I'll definitely do that for him.
