The week seemed to go by slowly. I'd start my day out by cooking breakfast for the pack house. She had me make what seemed like a feast! By the time the middle of the week came, I had gotten pretty good at cooking. After breakfast we would work on dancing. It was very difficult to wear a dress that was longer than my legs! Every four steps, I was stepping on the trim, causing me to lose my footing and falling. At first, Celi would giggle but got frustrated after the twentieth time. "Sarah! when stepping forward, use your foot to move the dress so you don't step on it! We have been at this for three days, it's not that hard" I was ready to rip this dress and walk out, but I stood up ready to go again.
Finally, after three long hours of dancing, I sat down and relaxed, although I had to read a book on how to sit and stand. When Friday finally rolled around, I could cook a feast, sat like a princess, I just couldn't dance! Celi left me alone all day so I could prepare myself for today's events. It wasn't until thirty minutes past one o'clock before the first clan showed up. My father, along side the alpha, greeted them. To the side of my father were my brothers, and beside our alpha was his son Sam. Sam is a year older than me, so he had already had his first shift. That night, everyone who had already made their shift went on a run with him.
While I had the day to relax, I went down to the training area, taking the backway to avoid everyone besides a few of our scouts. When I finally made it, I quickly locked the doors behind me. Turning on my Bluetooth to listen to my music, I decided to listen to something a bit harder, like kron and Slipknot. Taking a deep breath, I steadied myself, then took off. I didn't hold anything back. One lap, two laps, three laps.. It was on the third lap that I sensed something different. Stopping, I looked around until I noticed a figure sitting on a bench. I've never seen this person before, "um, Hello? who are you and what are you doing in here". The figure stands up and starts walking into the light of the track, revealing a very handsome man. Maybe 6'0 or taller, tan skin with dark thickish hair, and bright green eyes. His scent was breathtaking as he got closer. I could smell something relaxing about him that I just couldn't place. "I'll ask again, who are you and what are you doing in here." He took a deep breath and his eyes flashed colors, as if filled with lust. "My name is Alexander. I am one of the Alphas' here for the gathering." Crap...
Sighing, I turned off the Bluetooth speakers and headed to the door, "Come with me, you're in the wrong area." Pushing the door open, it was strangely no longer locked. I waited for him to exit but he stopped there, staring at me. " How old are you?" he asked me. Confused by his question, I replied 17. "When is your 18th birthday?" Annoyed, I looked at my phone, "Well mister 20 question, It's now 5:45, so I have got three hours til I am born." He smiled at me, his smile was most intoxicing to me and walked out the door. I yelled at him. "Well, what's your age!" He waved as he kept walking with a simple answer, 20. After that encounter, I rushed back to my room where I found Celi sitting on my bed. " Where have you been? Gods Sarah, you're covered in sweat, quickly get into the shower. We don't have much time!" She shoved me into the bathroom, shutting the door. I could hear her going through my clothes as I showered. When I came out, she was standing on my mirror table that was now covered in make-up and rollers. "Because your hair is a beautiful red, I am going to roll it so it has a nice curly wave to it, and as we wait for it to dry, I'll start on your make-up!"
After about two hours, which included putting on the dress, I was ready for the party. It was a floor-length black dress, hugging the upper part of my body that slowly fanned out. It had a handful of beaded designs that went from the chest down to the belly. Celi stood there for a moment just looking at me in awe. "You look so beautiful Sarah. Just breathtaking", I replied with thanks. "it's time to go downstairs. After all, this is your birthday party!" With that, she grabbed my hand and dragged me down the stairs. We reached the backdoor where everyone had gathered to celebrate. The back yard was remodeled for this event. There were lights hanging from the house and the surrounding trees, two different buffets and light music. The number of people that showed up was crazy, although most of them were there in hopes of finding a mate. As we were walking to find my father, a smell hit my nose that was mouth watering and I frantically started looking around to pin point the location it was coming from. "What are you doing Sarah, you're starting to look like a crazy person." I looked at her with an apologetic look "Celi, what is that smell? it's very calming smell, and i'd honestly like to go stand near it. This place is too crowded for my own good." She sniffed the air, trying to figure out what I was talking about, but no luck. "I have no clue, look for it later. We have to find your father so we can start the real event."
We only walked for a few minutes when we found my father and brothers talking to a couple of people. "Damn sis! Is that you under there? You look like a girl!" Punching Jayden on the arm, I smiled. "You look amazing, Celi, you out-did yourself in such a short amount of time." She giggled and bowed her head, but then she spoke of the smell I mentioned to her earlier that made me annoyed. "Oh! Sarah tell them about the smell you mentioned earlier. I bet they could help you find it!" rolling my eyes, I told them about the smell. "It was just a nice smell, kinda like a forest after it just freshly rained. I don't even understand why you had to mention that, Celi." They just stared at me in silence, Chance was the one who spoke up after a while. "Could it possible mean your mate is here." as he took a bite of his food. I scuffed at the thought of finding a mate this soon. But as I was about to speak I felt sharp pains going through my body that dropped me to the ground. It was my bones breaking and healing over and over again. I gasped, trying to breathe through. I could hear a few people cheering as my father was telling me to relax. "The first time is always rough, try to relax as best you can, don't fight it." Just as I was about to completely collapse, a pair of hands cupped my face. Looking up to see a pair of beautiful green eyes looking back at me, "you have to relax and steady your breathing, you'll be alright dear." Warmth filled me but the voice I heard next frightened me. Mate....
