Chapter 12

1933 Words
Jade awoke from a dream about battling other members on eBay for the items she needed. The work she was doing for Caleb consumed both her conscious and unconscious mind… when she wasn’t thinking about the spanking. The memory had replayed over and over the night previous, making it hard to get to sleep.   After a speedy shower, she brushed her teeth and hair, before applying her makeup with the speedy precision of a professional makeup artist. She applied extra lipstick in dark red – her favourite colour. A quick pout and flip of her hair and she was happy with herself.   Jade almost made herself late by searching through the back of her wardrobe, hoping to find the new top she had bought and never found an occasion for. It was tighter than her usual shirts and showed more of her belly. It was the sort of thing Katie wore, but with her supermodel face and perfect body, Katie could get away with it.   ‘Why am I getting so dressed up to work at Caleb’s house?’ Jade asked herself.   Jade tried to convince herself it was for herself. An attempt to make her feel good about her looks.   ‘Who am I trying to kid?’ Jade sighed.   Ready before schedule, she sat for a moment and fell deep into thought.   ‘Maybe if I do something wrong on purpose, he will spank me again,’ Jade considered.   She shook her head and made a face in her mirror.   ‘What am I thinking? Have I gone mad?’   The truth was, he could just as easily hurt her in a worse way, or even hurt her brother. He could do anything he wanted, and she would just have to take it. What other option did she have? That Amy woman went to the police and look how well that turned out for her.   The scary fact was… this was a person who would burn her house down. Would torture her. Would hurt her family. It was terrifying… and yet… something about the dynamic of the situation was exciting. Jade had never had anything exciting in her life prior to this. The thought of dating a guy just out of prison had seemed risqué not long ago.   In all honesty, Jade felt a twinge of guilt over leading Jay on. As much as she assured herself it wasn’t her fault. That he had put unwarranted pressure on her. Or that he should have known she didn’t do long term relationships. Would it hurt him to see her working with his brother?   Jade paid little attention to her classes. She sat with her friends, listened to their conversations and even joined in, but it was all thanks to the miracle of autopilot. Her head was elsewhere.   When she finally got back to Caleb her heart was racing. She redid her lipstick with a shaky hand before letting herself into his room.   ‘Great, his mates are here,’ Jade pouted. There was less chance he would do anything to her with an audience, and if he did, the level of humiliation might be somewhat greater than her tolerance for shame.   He barely looked up as she walked in and bent over to retrieve her box of goodies from under the bed. She set to work, using highlighters to code the items that she had sorted, in transition, and ones she still needed to find. Every so often she would look up Cal, but he was too busy talking with his friends to notice. They flitted between making jokes at the expense of each other and discussing which poor sap would be next on their hit list.   ‘As long as it isn’t my brother I don’t care.’ Jade thought, but deep down she knew these people had family members who loved them just as much. Well, she hoped they did. As much it felt bad to stay silent, Jade knew it was pointless to plead their cases.   “We should go after David Knightly,” one of the lads piped up. “He’s a proper nonce.”   “Is he though?” Jade butted in with a sigh. She knew David. He wasn’t exactly what she would describe as an upstanding member of the community, but he wasn’t hurting anyone, to the best of her knowledge.   “Who said you were allowed to talk?” Caleb asked. He stared her down with his patented Caleb scowl.   Jade looked down, saying nothing more, but felt a surge of adrenaline rush through her system. It wasn’t fear exactly, but the thrill of being reprimanded.   Jade continued her work in silence, though she desperately wanted to join in the conversation, just to be noticed. It felt wrong that she had waited all day for this, only to feel deflated. Maybe it was karma. It wasn’t as if she didn’t make a habit of letting people down.   Jade placed the laptop carefully to one side and shuffled off the bed, wiggling her feet to relieve the pins and needles sensation.   "Where the hell do you think you’re going?" Caleb asked, paying her his full attention for the first time that day.   “Erm… I need to use the bathroom,” Jade explained. She didn’t exactly ask, having been numerous times before today without incident, but she didn’t use her sarcastic voice either.   “No, sit down, you can wait till your break.” Caleb barked.   In any other situation, Jade would have put forward some form of argument. Both his face and tone of voice told her it was best to just obey. Looking at the clock, she calculated it was an hour and thirty minutes until her break. Could she hold herself for that long? Was doing so even healthy?   Jade wished she had a better understanding of human physiology.   Sneaking a peek over at Cal, she wondered if he would spank her again if she ran out of the room to go pee. The thought made her cross her legs a little tighter.   ‘Focus on what you are doing,’ Jade urged herself, but it was becoming increasingly uncomfortable. She desperately wanted to ask him to let her go, but the idea made her feel like a little school kid pestering the teacher for a hall pass. It was embarrassing, especially with all of the others in earshot.   When the gang left to have a cigarette, Jade took her opportunity. It wasn’t even about seeing if she could get a punishment anymore, she just didn’t want to wet herself.   “Please can I go pee?” she asked, “I won’t have a break at all to make up for it.”   “Nope, you can stick to the rules and wait,” he replied.   “Please? Please can I go super quickly? I don’t want to piss myself,” Jade begged, employing her most pathetic facial expression.   “You won’t piss yourself,” he laughed. “You know, when you get the feeling you need to go your bladder is only about half full. You really don’t have a good knowledge of human physiology.”   ‘I was just thinking that,’ Jade thought. ‘Can he read my thoughts?’   His expression was smug, as though to say ‘yes… yes, I can Jade, I know every dirty little thought you’ve had about me.’   ‘Or, more likely, he’s smug because he knows I’m suffering,’ Jade reasoned with herself. People cannot read minds. Psychics. Mediums. Mind readers. It was all a massive load of bollocks.   Jade did her best to concentrate on her job, but it was so difficult. The pain inside her bladder had no reprieve. It was a constant pressure, threatening to humiliate her. Despite his orders to wait, it got to the point where Jade could no longer stop herself.   “I’m sorry I have to go… please, please, please, please don’t be mad at me,” Jade got up, letting the laptop and papers slip into a haphazard pile.   On the way to the door Caleb got up and blocked her path with ease, despite her hasty retreat.   “No, no, no,” she cried as he put his hands around her shoulders and guided her back to the bed. He picked her up with ease and placed her back. Jade heard some of his mates snickering, but Kenny spoke up in her defence.   “Why don’t you just let her go,” he urged. “It won’t take her more than a minute.”   “Why does anyone do anything?” Caleb shrugged   “Most people believe human behaviour is the result of either genetics or upbringing,” the good looking one offered. Jade was somewhat aware Katie was crushing on this guy hard, even though her so-called best friends had left her out of the loop yet again.   “But the human mind is simply a construct based on a series of drives and personality parameters. The decisions you make are predetermined by these inherent traits.” he went on.   The others screwed up their faces as if a teacher had just wandered in and started giving a lesson on quantum theory. Only Caleb stared at the boy with awe.   “That theory leaves little room for growth,” Jade pointed out. “Can people not change?” When she said people, she meant herself. She opposed the thought of being stuck in a never-ending loop of bad decision making just because she was made this way   “You’re talking about mindfulness,” the boy said. “The idea that if you become aware of your decision-making processes you can alter them.”   He shrugged. “It may not be as easy as you think.”   Jade tried to understand what he was saying, but it wasn’t easy with the now unbearable pain in her bladder. No position she shifted into made it any less unbearable. She was not able to hold it any longer.   “Please, Caleb, let me take my break early. I’m begging you. Please. Please have mercy,” Jade whined. She continued to beg and plead as pathetically as she could, despite hearing his mate’s cruel laughter. One of them suggested she should be made to pee in front of them all and Jade guessed his motives were more geared toward getting a look at her goodies than punishing her.   After a minute straight of begging Kenny sprang up and put his arm around her, pulling her up off the bed, out of the room and toward the bathroom. Jade was shocked that Caleb didn’t make any sort of move to stop him. Was Kenny going to get into trouble? Was she going to be in trouble? Honestly, at that moment, it didn’t matter in the slightest. Only one thing mattered.   She ran into the bathroom and learned the true meaning of the term, ‘to relieve oneself.’ Never before in her life had taken a wee felt so amazing. Every ounce of pain and pressure fizzled away, leaving a temporary state of bliss.   “Thank you. Really. Thank you for not being a massive d**k like the rest of them,” Jade said to Kenny who had waited outside the bathroom.   The boy shrugged. “It was the right thing to do. Caleb can be too mean, and you shouldn’t be mean to girls.”   Jade felt a mixture of guilt and embarrassment, knowing she liked to be treated in such a way. She would never admit this to an innocent guy like Kenny.   “Aren’t you worried about what he will do?” Jade asked.   “He ain't gonna do s**t to me,” Kenny assured her with confidence. “You, on the other hand… you should be careful.”   Kenny was right, it turned out. Caleb bumped his fist as he entered, as friendly as always. Nothing more was said about the issue. Their talk resumed as before Jade’s outburst.   At ten o’clock Caleb told Jade she could go. He walked her downstairs and out of the house, pulling on her arm to halt her just as she was about to step out.   “When you come after college tomorrow,” he whispered into her ear, “I want you to be wearing a skirt and no underwear.”
