She Was Killed

1796 Words
I stared at the girl in the mirror with a blank face. Her emotions and her memories were now flooding my mind. Jacob was the beta of the pack. Emma, this girl, she heard this conversation when she was watching them sparring in the evening. She was so heartbroken that she couldn’t stand there for long. I gasped again when the remaining memories of the same event hit my head again. “You b****d…. you are really something, Jacob,” Wick laughed while punching Jacob playfully. I was now disgusted with these two. All I wanted was to kill them, but I endured this hatred inside my heart. “What about Sandra, then?” Wick asked him when their laughter died. I saw a sinister smile on Jacob’s face once again. “She is already mine. Why do I need to think about her?” Jacob asked Wick with a smug expression on his face, as if he had accomplished something. “You two have been together for more than three years. For you, she rejected her mate, but this is not known to anyone. Don’t tell me that you don’t want to take her as your chosen mate,” Wick replied to him while they changed their positions. I jerked my head and closed my eyes. I didn’t want to remember anything else. Sandra….. Emma’s sister…. Emma’s elder sister….. the p***k had the gall to think about bedding the younger sister while already in a relationship with Sandra. Emma's sister, she was also a pathetic creature. Did she refuse her mate for someone like Jacob? Wait….. I immediately lifted my head up and looked at my current reflection with a confused expression on my face. What is mate????? What is Beta????? What the hell was going on in her memories????? My heart was now beating furiously in fear. I wasn’t fond of reading novels, but my friend, Stacy, was a big fan of fiction stories. She loved werewolves’ stories and almost nags me about the plots and twists of those fictional stories that she reads on the web. Those were only fictional stories, right? There is no such creature like werewolves in this world, right? What the hell was wrong with her memories, then? Why was I listening to words like pack, beta, mate?????? I flinched harshly when someone banged on the door of the bathroom. “Emma….. hurry up…. Everyone is waiting for you,” I heard an impatient, familiar voice calling me while yelling aloud. I furrowed my brows and immediately searched Emma’s memories. The corners of my mouth curled up when I realized it was Sandra, Emma’s elder sister. Her memories immediately filled me with all the information that I needed to know about Sandra. Sandra was her elder sister, but one of her bullies. I rolled my eyes after learning what I needed to know right now. She continued banging on the door, and I leisurely cleaned my face…. Well Emma’s face, but now it was mine. I finished my business in the bathroom and slowly walked towards the door. I took a deep breath and opened the door. I immediately dove when her fist was about to hit my face. “What’s wrong with you? Why do you want to hit me?” I yelled in panic while pressing my back on the door frame. I sniffed when I got some familiar scents. It seemed that Sandra was not alone in the room. I was now looking at her with a fearful expression on my face, and my whole body was trembling unconsciously out of fear. “Wh… what are you saying? Why would I hit you?” she yelled again, and I almost fell to the ground as my knees went jelly. To be honest, I was shocked by Emma’s body’s reaction towards Sandra. It proved how scary Sandra was for Emma. “Enough, Sandra…. Let her come out first. Everyone is waiting for her,” I heard Emma’s mother saying to Sandra in a stern tone. I slowly got hold of myself and took a few deep breaths to calm myself down. It wouldn’t work. I wasn’t someone who could be considered a pushover. I needed to change this tonight. I slowly walked out of the room and went to our mother. The same woman was with Emma’s father earlier. She was holding a beautiful nightgown in her hands. I raised my brows in confusion but didn’t ask anything. They said that something important was going to happen tonight. What was it? Why was everyone waiting for an insignificant figure like Emma? I stayed silent all the time while listening to a heavy conversation between Sandra and our mother. They were hushed in their tones, but audible enough for me to listen. I soon learned that it was Emma’s engagement banquet with a prince. I was still confused, but I decided to listen to them silently to get more information about the situation. Sandra was not happy with this engagement. She blatantly belittled Emma in front of me. The disdain and hatred for Emma was clearly evident on her face all the time. According to her, Emma didn’t deserve to be with royalty. It should be her. Our mother scolded her for being reckless and told her that it was her who brought this on her. I went through Emma’s memories once again, and understood the whole situation. This was a business alliance, and Emma was nothing, but an offering to the royal from his father. The royals had only one condition, and that was that the bride should be a virgin. Sandra was already in a relationship with Jacob, and this was not hidden. So, Emma was the only choice. Sandra loathed Emma for snatching this opportunity from her. Now I wondered if she had any involvement in provoking Jacob to have that sinister thought. “You are beautiful, Emma,” I came out of my trance and looked at the woman with a curious gaze. This was the first time after I woke up, I saw a genuine and beautiful smile on her face, with admiration evident in her eyes. It was when I noticed the similarity between her and Emma. I must say that she had maintained herself well. She could pass as Emma’s elder sister…. Well…. Elder than Sandra… but more beautiful than her. “Look at yourself, honey,” she urged me and I slowly moved my head towards the mirror. I gasped in shock when I saw how beautiful I was looking right now. It was Emma’s mother who put the make-up on me, and she did a marvelous job of highlighting all the positive features of Emma’s face. Emma was a beautiful girl. She was beautiful even without make-up, and now with this fine make-up, she looked stunning. I heard Sandra scoffing, but it didn’t bother me. “Let’s go, love… Your father is calling… he has blown my mind through mind-link,” Emma’s mother complained while rolling her eyes. My heart skipped a beat. Once again, a word which made me suspicious about this place. I wasn’t woken up inside a story, was I? Sandra was still grumbling behind me, but our mother didn’t let me stop for her. Our mother was now holding me by my shoulders, and she was almost dragging me away from Sandra. It was clear that she didn’t want me to be near Sandra anymore. “Listen to me, love… and listen to me carefully.” She started speaking to me in a firm and low tone, keeping the gentleness of her voice. “You…. You know better than anyone why our pack needs this marriage alliance with the royal family. I… I know that it’s not fair to you. You… you may have a mate somewhere, but you are the only unmated she-wolf in the whole pack who doesn’t have any romantic relationships. You don’t know, but it was Prince Xavier who chose you to be his bride when we sent him the information of all the unmated she-wolves of our pack,” she continued, and my heart thumped hard against my ribcage. Now I was sure that I was indeed inside a fictional story. How did I end up here? What happened to my family after I left that world? How would I take my revenge on those who hurt me and my family? I felt a stabbing pain in my chest, but I endured it, without paying much attention to my surroundings or what Emma’s mother was asking me. “Promise me, Emma… that you won’t do anything recklessly again. I… I agree that it… it’s hard on you to be humiliated by everyone in the pack for being wolfless, but this was not your choice, honey… This is on the Moon Goddess for not giving you a wolf,” she continued in the same worried and frustrating tone. Slowly, my mind processed what she said. I took a breath of relief internally. So, Emma didn’t have a wolf. Thank god… she didn’t have a wolf. According to Stacy, a wolf inside a werewolf is like another part of them living inside their mind. “Promise me that you won’t try to end your life again,” she asked me, and I gasped in shock once again. “What?” I blurted out in a loud tone while stopping in my tracks. My mother immediately widened her eyes in shock and looked around. I went through Emma’s memories once again to find out if she really tried to kill herself. I found nothing related to this information. It didn’t take me long to understand that someone had tried to kill her. He or she indeed succeeded in killing her. The twist in the story was that I got inside her body. “I… I didn’t do anything like this, Mom,” I answered her when she was about to say something to me. My voice was low, and my answer took her off guard. “What?” she asked me with a stunned expression. My expressions were also complicated right now. “I just had a glass of juice when Sandra informed me about their arrival in our pack. After that…. I … I woke up when… when you and dad were scolding me,” I told her truthfully the information that I gathered from Emma’s memories. She narrowed her eyes while holding me tightly by my shoulders. I lowered my eyes, having an aggrieved expression on my face. “I know that you don’t believe me, Mom… but this is the truth. Someone…. Someone poisoned me,” I said further in the same low tone while slowly looking into her eyes.
