The sun was all set and I was still seated on the bench before a thought crossed my heart. I can as well go to the mosque to pray.
Yes…. I am a believing Muslimah. I affirmed myself with this word and stood up to leave.
On getting to the large beautiful masjid on the 2nd lane, I saw kids of different skin colours, ages and tribes and I couldn't stop smiling.
Indeed Allah protected his religion as he had said.
I missed solatul magrib , so I walked past the children that were seated in groups waiting for the food to be served.
Fasting is indeed a part of worship that brings everyone together. I thought.
I went in, performed ablution slowly letting the water trail my body in sync. I felt my soul refreshing and closed my eyes to let my heart cool down.
When I finished with my ablution and recited the must say duas , I stepped into the mosque and went to the farthest corner. I love staying alone the most and that's what is affecting me up till today.
I stood straight to pray, made supplications and lie on the floor after a stressful day.
A few minutes later.
I was still on the cold ground when a little girl with fair and pink cheeks came tugging at my coat.
Raising my head up to meet a beautiful soul.
Oh sister, how can I be of help? I asked her with a smile. Even If smiling isn't a must , one can't just resist smiling at this doll-like face before me.
Don't you like food? She asked innocently with her big watery eyes blinking at me.
Well… I wanted to give a negative answer but I wanted to know why she asked so I said…yes.
Okay, come with me then. The ladies corner for food is over there. It serves you, you know? She said excitedly and I couldn't help but chuckle.
I would go over then. I replied and she kept holding onto my hand .
What's your name? I asked the little girl.
Ohhh! That, you want to know? I don't think you will be able to pronounce it . My apologies. She said elegantly.
Hah!, gosh , you haven't said it yet. I reminded her again and she sighed drastically.
Alright, my name is Khira Khan. I am in grade 3 , currently attending one of the best schools outside the city.
Woah!, that's a nice name you know. I love it. Rahmah replied.
Of course you would do. My father is not one to miss the road. He is the best. She boastfully responded .
At her words, I chuckled silently before taking the plate attempting to serve myself before my phone started to ring.
Who is it again? I grumbled.
Hey you!!. What are you still doing outside?!. A loud cry came from the other side of the phone and I instantly pulled the phone away from my ear.
What the!……. Something is building up my chest already. A pent up anger.
I frowned at the caller's name.
You should get back home right now. You have a visitor. The caller said.
Visitor? I asked myself curiously and cut the call.
Little one, I have to leave alright. I said while grazing Khira Khan's cheek.
It's fine then , be careful on your way. She replied.
Oh right, by the way, who is your guardian? I asked her not to leave her all by herself.
Don't worry about that. My father is coming to pick me up. She replied and I walked out of the mosque steadily.
See you soon . She shouted behind me.
You too. I replied.
