  Chapter 8 Prince Leopold sat vigil at his mother’s bed for three days and three nights, waiting for her to wake again. She never did. She expired as the sun rose on the fourth day, and Prince Leopold had to be dragged from her side so she could be prepared for interment. Dexter could do nothing but wait and watch silently.
