9. Do you still have feelings towards her?

"Come in, mum." Asher spoke without taking his eyes of the document.
The luna opened the door and entered. Her eyes taking in the whole scene.
"Where is Roan?" the luna wondered. As she moved to the desk. Pulling the right chair, she sat on.
"Maela just returned. So, he won't say hi." Asher answered in his boring tone.
The luna giggled. Then, she stopped. Her features are serious now. she stared at Asher. Her eyes showing anxiety.
"what's this time, mum?" Asher put the document on the desk. His boring voice no longer there.
"Your father told me that he spoke with you about the chosen mate." The luna looked serious. Her calming voice disappeared. A flat one took over.
"And?" Asher lean back in his chair.
"You will be 25 in a few months. And by our tradition, you can't take the
position without a mate," The luna began. Anyone hear her would mistake her for a woman on business. Not a woman who is talking to her son about his future partner.
Before Asher could open his mouth to abject, his mother gestured to him to stop and continued.
"There is an ancient law, that allow an alpha, who happened to not find their mate by the time they take over the pack," she stopped for a moment.
"To have a chosen mate under the promise of step down the position when the alphas find their true mates." Her voice didn't waver, but her eyes did. A hint of glowing showed in them. And Asher didn't miss that. Her features softed as she kept staring at her pup. "we hope that by your 25's birthday, if you didn't find your mate," The luna stopped for a moment.
It doesn't matter how strong she looked on the surface, deep inside was a mother who cared deeply about her little pup. "we will choose one for you." The flat voice wavered a little at the end.
Asher wanted to argue, to reject their offer. that why he opened his mouth. But then he remembered what he already planned. So he close it. After thinking for unknown while, Asher opened his mouth again. This time he opened his mouth knowing what to say.
"At my 25's birthday. If I didn't find my true mate, then you can choose anyone you like. I won't object." He said with a smile. Although, His voice seemed a little bit sad.
Any mother would by happy. After all your child listened to you. But the
luna didn't smile. Instead, she rise from her seat, went to her son and hold him tightly.
Asher's eyes went round. But then he relaxed and give in. As he covered his face in her chest and hugged her back.
"My baby, my little pup. Everything will turn right! You are a good boy. You don't
deserve what is happing to you right now. Soon, very soon everything will be
fixed. No more remorse. You will find someone who truly deserves you.
You will take over the position. Will start your own family. I will finally have
my grandpups!" she laughed. The laughing held hope, sadness and joking, all together.
"Mum! stopt talking like that! I am not that old." Ashet didn't look like an alpha. His red cheeks said something else.
Just a little boy who his mother made fun of. A boy who doesn't need to deal with all that drama. To pretend like nothing has happened. like nothing has been broken.
"I know my baby, I know." The luna soothing voice made a melody in Asher's ears.
Both the mother and son stayed like that for a while.

Asher remained in his office. Going through all the files that awfully seemed to not end at all.
He huffed sometimes. He sighed sometimes.
He rolled his sleeves to his elbows. As he leaned back in his seat, he ran a hand over his face.
He wanted the title. He understood the responsibilities. But did he had to deal with all thst papers work?
'It feel like I haven't left school at all' Asher chuckled as the thought ran through his mind.
just as Asher decide to take a break. He sensed that someone wanted to talk to him.
So Asher focused on that.
Ashet felt his heart sunk when he knew who was.
'Is everything ok?' Asher professional tone rang through the mind like.
'Yes, Alpha.' The young female responded from the other side of the mind link.
'Is their any updates I need to know?' Asher tried his best to not expose his inner feelings.
'Yes, Alpha.' The female didn't wait for him, she kept going. 'The she were that you brought had left the hospital.' Her voice calm and steady.
Asher's eyes wided. Yet, he kept all his emotions under control. He can't let anyone see through him.
'Did you do as I ordered?' he wonered in his authoritic voice.
'Yes, Alpha.' The female responed with pride.
'Good.' and with that Asher ended the mind link.
Asher stood up and stared through the window. After. long time, he moved.
He took his suit's jacket and left his office.

While walking out the pack house, Asher looked at the assistant behind him and
said, "I will be out reach for a while, if any one called me on my business number, answer and say that I am in a meeting, and I will contact them when I can."
He then looked back at him again, "except if they were a family member, then
say the truth."
"Yes, alpha." The assistant spoke as he kept his voice clear and low.
The assistant nod and left, leaving Asher walking alone, till he reached the pack's garage.
Aher entered and went to his favourite car. He took the keys from his trousers.
Then, Aher opened the car's door and get in. rides his car and went to his destination.

"I apology, I couldn't come the last time." Asher apologied as he Sat down on a
leather sofa. He hated it.
"it's ok Alpha, I know how much you are busy. Being an Alpha isn't easy at all." The beautiful woman sitting
across him said. Her smile and voice are calming.
"So, will you tell me what happened last weak and why you cancelled
our meeting?" the woman asked. Her voice encouraged Asher to open his mouth and speak.
"I had another mate," Asher whispered. He turned his head a little before looking back at her.
The woman looked at him with focused eyes. "And?" she asked.
"I was rejected.... Again." Asher seemed tired.
"Oh." She took few moments and continued, "and what did happen, exactly?" her tone seemed like a mother trying to bring her son to spill it all.
Asher told the elegant woman across him what happened.
"So, after she passed out, you took her to the clinic?" she raised her brow.
"Yes, that what a gentle man would do." Asher replied. he hid his emotion.
The woman frowned. She didn't like that.
"After all she made you go through?" The woman's voice didn't held any negative emotions at all.
Asher didn't speak. He only nodded.
"What about you. Do you still have feeling
towards her?" she wondered.
"Me? I am not that kind to run after some one who left me." His voice didn't convince her.
Then he said with a sigh, "but my wolf side does, he doesn't want to understand that our mate left us." Asher leaned back. "And he is now angry about what I decide."
"And what did you decide?" The woman leaned back in her seat as well.
"That I will reject whoever is my next mate. And I will take a chosen mate." He finished.
The woman looked confused, so Asher told her about his conversation with both his parents.
"that's make a sense. Just as the luna said. That the best solution." the woman commented.
"You didn't say any thing to them, right?" his wary voice fell on her ears.
"of course NOT, Alpha!" she defended. "No matter what, you can make sure
all your secrets will remain secrets with me." She smiled at him.
"I know. I was just worry. "He said Looking down.
"Did I made a mistake?" Asher low voice had a little doubt.
"We need to know more before judging." she gestured with her hand.
"Now, Alpha. Is it all. Or there is more." she raised her brow.
Asher chuckled. It looks like they spent a lot of time together. She almost know what he think about.
"There is more." Asher confessed.
"And. That. Is?" the woman moved her lips slowly.
"My father.... He apologised to me." Asher looked at her. His eyes are lost.
So was the woman. Her eyes went round. If it wasn't for her self control, she would have hanged her mouth wide open.
"And what did happen exactly?" a look of muse decorated her beautiful features.
Asher continued telling the elegant woman what did happen with him since their last meeting. And she listened carefully.
