"Is there a way for me to withdraw from the pack?" I asked him. He looked at me with a confused expression and then shook his head.
"No, it's impossible because you already swore in with your blood. So, it's kind of a blood covenant." He paused, a deep frown crossed his eyes. "What? Don't you want to be in the same pack with me?" He asked.
"Huh? No, it's not that... Forget it."
I sighed, and we continued walking back to the class. I guess I'd just have to stay in his pack and bear all the trash he had to tell me, after all the counselor said it was the best pack to get effective training and I needed to be trained.
I went to my locker, got some books and locked it. I held Vincent's hand as we walked down the hall. Someone suddenly cursed at me.
"I wonder what will happen to our pathetic omega this full moon!"
Everyone began laughing. Vincent held my hand tight as we walked. Someone hit my shoulder hard as I groaned.
"Oops! Next time, don't mess with our queen," she rolled her eyes and walked past me. I didn't know what to say but let it pass for now as I was already pissed off by what was happening.
I guess I angered the whole school - not just for being a weak omega but also for disrespecting their "queen". Wait, why am I calling her a queen? Rosa is her f*****g name.
"Look at me, Jane, don't let what they said hurt you, okay? The fact that you're omega only makes you more unique." Vincent advised. "It's the end of lessons for today and just hours before the full moon. You need to be in your lodge." I nodded. We hugged and he left to his own dorm.
I spotted Kate at one end searching for someone which had to be me. I waved and she came over, looking disappointed. "Jane, why would you leave without telling me? Let's go to our dorm, okay? It's only a few hours till the full moon," she said with concern.
We walked on, Kate wearing an earpiece listening to music. We reached a corner and she led the way. I wanted to ask her a question. If one normally shifts and runs in the woods during a full moon, then why was staying in one's room so strict? It's not like there are humans for us to hide our identities from as wolves.
We walked into a three-story building. Kate opened the door on the right - our dorm was the second from the entrance.
We entered and I tossed my luggage in a corner.
Kate jumped onto her bed excitedly. "Finally!" She winked at me but I still didn't feel comfortable.
So, I couldn't help but ask that question I had in mind.
She explained, "This woods is full of evil, mysterious creatures lurking around. I bet you rogue werewolves attend this school too. That's why we're advised to stay indoors during the full moon," she suddenly walked to her luggage. "And that's why the orientation party was postponed to tomorrow evening! Oh boy, I'm gonna rock that party!" She beamed with glee, clearly digging through her luggage for an outfit for tomorrow.
I rolled my eyes and chuckled. I should start arranging my stuffs. I set my books on the table but then sat down to think. If a werewolf shifts, couldn't they escape through the walls? Or perhaps mountain ash would be used to surround the building, making it impossible for a wolf to leave their dorm.
"Don't worry, girl," Kate squealed, catching me off guard. "We'll show that Mike tomorrow that you're way better than that thing called Rosa! If you don't see it but I can - you're really pretty." She praised me, acting breezy.
"So that means I'm the only one who can't control my shift here?" I asked, wanting to know more about this school and the full moon.
"Most of us can control our shifts even during a full moon, like me. We were strictly trained for it. But since some people like you can't, they'll spread mountain ash everywhere," she explained.
I don't know why I couldn't get Mike off my mind, even though I tried. I still felt the pain from when he rejected me. How stupid of him.
I checked my bag to see if I had downloaded the school app and joined the group. But then I couldn't find my phone. I checked everywhere in my luggage but couldn't find it.
"My phone is missing!" I exclaimed. When I turned around, Kate wasn't in the room, likely in the bathroom.
My mind rewound back to when I grabbed my books. I realized I had left my phone in the locker. s**t, I need to go get it, but the full moon...
I checked outside the window and saw the moon was still half, not full. I quickly took to my heels and left the room.
"I'll be back before the moon is full," I said to myself, running to the school building. It was dark as I saw security guards patrolling. I tiptoed past them, and now I was only a kilometer from the school.
As I walked, I suddenly slipped and fell onto the floor, catching the attention of the security guards. I quickly hid behind the large flowers, moving cautiously. And yes, I was almost there.
I couldn't afford to lose my phone, even though it wasn't yet the full moon. Finally, I managed to enter the school building through the opened windows. I felt a bit relieved as I made it inside. Now, I needed to retrieve my phone before anyone noticed me.
I reached for my locker tagged #33 and successfully grabbed my phone. In my excitement, I accidentally slammed the locker shut, catching a guard's attention.
"Who's there?!"
My heart dropped as I quickly fled to the classroom and hid under the professor's desk.
I glanced up at the sky - it was almost full moon. My claws instinctively came out as I clenched my fists tightly, trying to take it all in. I felt blood dripping from the wounds.
"Oh no, this is bad," I thought to myself.
I quietly approached the door and checked if the security guards were still outside. They were, causing me to run my hands through my hair and let out a sigh. What do I do?
I could sense Lexi, my wolf, trying to emerge, but I managed to control it and for a moment, it finally went in.
Feeling relieved, I silently made my way to the window and climbed out without making a sound.
But suddenly, a guard yelled, "Hey!" and shined a light on me. I had no choice but to start running, breathing heavily.
The moon finally completed it's circle, and I could feel Lexi taking over. I tried to push her back in, but she quickly overpowered me.
Lexi caused me to run into the woods on all fours, sniffing and desiring to attack anything in sight. The woods were eerily quiet.
Suddenly, a brown wolf attacked me from behind, knocking me to the ground. When I looked into its blue eyes, I realized it was a rogue wolf.
Lexi stood up and punched the rogue in the face, causing it to growl loudly. The rogue then pounced on me, hitting me hard into the ground. I was already too weak to defend myself further.
The rogue refused to back down, clawing at my skin. I could feel myself losing blood and nearing death as the rogue's claws tore into me relentlessly.
Then, a large black wolf attacked the rogue, knocking it backwards. The black wolf seemed to be an alpha, with piercing red eyes. I could take no more pain and returned back to human form, passing out.
**
I felt someone touching my skin, and I enjoyed the sensation immensely. The touch felt wonderful and I heard compliments like "She is quite beautiful."
Wow, I loved such dreams. I couldn't stop smiling, hearing someone admiring my beauty and sending shivers down my spine. The hand reached my hair and that's when I realized I was still asleep.
"Argh!" I jerked awake, feeling an intense pain in my head. Then I recalled what happened during the full moon as I checked my body, discovering no claw marks in my skin.
I couldn't help but smile, but then where the hell was I? This place looked so fancy, like I was staying in a palace. Suddenly I heard someone clear their throat beside me.
"Mike?" I exclaimed, my eyes wide open in stunned realization, recalling someone saving me from the rogue I had fought.
"You saved me?!"
