Chapter 12: Finding Oliver Part 2

Chapter 12 Lenard is sitting on Caramella’s shoulders as if having a piggyback ride. They probably look very funny right now with a tall red haired woman standing on top of a metal counter while a golden haired baby-faced man is riding her shoulders. “Is it done yet?” Caramella whispered, sweating profusely. It's not that Lenard is heavy or anything, in fact, with her Lycan super strength, she can easily lift him up with one hand if she desired to. But the thing is, it's harder to act as if she is having a hard time holding him up as a human. Try to act as if you are shaking from fatigue and force yourself to sweat just by tensing up your body. “No, sorry. It's only halfway through actually” Lenard apologized. He is using one of his wolf form paws to push out his claw and trace a hole where they can fit through. He is also sweating from sheer concentration and from preventing any noise from coming through and making the werewolves in the next room hear them. It's tough work for both of them. “Okay, I want you to be a little faster,” Caramella said calmly, but trying to sound agitated too. ‘It's good that I’m used to acting as a human now. Being a strong Lycan that is multiple times stronger than a normal human being is tiring’ she thought. “Almost there.” Lenard said, cutting the floor a little bit more. He is not making a perfect circle, to be honest, he is ashamed that the way he cut it was too childish looking. But any hole will do as long as they have a way up to the captain’s quarters. Caramella tapped Lenard’s leg that was dangling on her left shoulder, “Make sure to catch the ceiling that you cut off, we don’t want to create noise” she whispered a notice. “I know, but then you also have to be careful about lifting me up. Or else I’ll slip and fall” Lenard whispered back before finally cutting the whole crappy circle. The ceiling gave in and he caught it flawlessly along with the piece of floor from the captain’s quarters above. “Okay, give me a quick lift” Lenard whispered, “On the count of three-” Lenard didn’t manage to count till three because Caramella quickly straightened her back and used her arms to lift him up with his thighs. He was surprised but his instinct made him push himself up on the upper ground with his free arms, placing the piece of ceiling on the ground. Now, he is dangling with his legs touching nothing. Caramella was acting again, gasping as if out of breath and tired when in reality, she’s barely used any energy. “You’re strong” Lenard commented before clawing his way up with only his torso and finally managed to climb up with his legs after transforming into a much lighter small honey colored wolf. He peeked through the hole with his adorable and fluffy wolf head, he pointed his snout around as if looking for something. Caramella can tell what he wants to do. “You don’t have to look for something that I can use as a rope. Just stretch out your hands, I’ll jump and grab it” Caramella whispered back before raising her hands up like a baby asking for someone to lift her up. Lenard nodded his wolf head then slowly, he turned back to his human form. His hairy limbs became longer and his fur retreated to his human skin. Lenard stretched down his arms, “Okay, go ahead” he whispered to the waiting Caramella who squatted in position. She jumped with all of her human might without using an ounce of her Lycan superpowers. It was hard for her not to use her powers but with her strong control over her Lycan form, she managed to do it. In return though, she almost hurt herself by missing Lenard’s outstretched hand. Caramella gasped as she was about to fall backwards, but thankfully Lenard managed to grab one of her flailing arms. “Oh lord” she whispered, “I almost screamed my lungs out” Lenard sighed in relief as he was pulling her up with all of his Lycan strength. “You’re kind of heavy” he commented, grunting silently before heaving Caramella all the way up. Caramella looked at him in an offended manner, her legs still dangling on the hole they just made on the floor of the ship. “That’s not a very nice thing to say to a woman” she grumbled as she crawled out, “You’ll get slapped if you’re not careful” “Hey, I’m just telling the truth” Lenard shrugged as he helped Caramella up. “Yeah sure. Then maybe, the truth is that you’re just weak, Mr. Captain’s mate” she finally stood up on her black heels and started dusting her black, glittery dress. Lenard scoffed, “Now that’s just uncalled for” Bang! They both stiffened at the sound of a g*n going off in a nearby room. Caramella assessed where she is, completely off her goofy mood to tease the small male Lycan in front of her. They are in a dark room with only one circular window that is covered with a white cloth giving off a dim illumination. They are both Lycans so they can easily discern what is in that room, and the room they are in is apparently filled with wine. “Where are we?” Caramella asked, feigning ignorance as if she can’t see around her. ‘I feel sorry for Lenard for hiding my Lycan abilities and making a fool out of him, but I can’t let anyone know that me and my son are Lycans’ she thought sadly. “I told you, in some sort of a treasure room” Lenard said casually before picking up a wine bottle from where it was stocked and handing it towards Caramella who pretended to put it up towards the light. “Wine?” she raised a brow, “Why would you call a stockroom of wine, a treasury room?” “Well, that’s the only thing my husband loves along with me of course. He loves his wine” Lenard explained before gesturing Caramella, “Follow me, I’ll lead you towards a secret passage” “That’s nice” she said, nodding at the idea of a secret passage. The gunshot just a while ago made her afraid to get out through the door leading to the open area of the captain’s quarters. She can also sense a lot of werewolves moving about but she wasn’t sure where they are exactly, all she can tell is that they are near her. “Are they not going to notice us?” she whispered as they walked towards the narrow path in between shelves and shelves of wine. “Not with the ‘Anti-Pheromone’ that we just put on” Lenard whispered back from the front, “They are not as sensitive as Lycans so I’m sure they won’t notice us, not until we are under their noses” Caramella hasn’t met a lot of werewolves in her lifetime, and even if she did, they are mostly in human form and friendly. Having to see a lot of transformed werewolves who are ready to shoot them down at any moment like this in a closed space such as a ship is making her feel uneasy. Not to mention that they are surrounded by water. “I really hope Darius’ pincer attack is going to work” Caramella prayed in a whisper. “Don’t jinx it” Lenard said. After squeezing into the last narrow pathway, they finally made it right by a small open space where there are barrels and wooden boxes. It looks like a junk area where they drop off the boxes of wines after they have been delivered and opened, but Caramella can tell that somewhere in that space, there is a hidden passage. She watched as Lenard kneeled down to push off the boxes to the side. He pulled Caramella’s hand and made her work too. “It’s been a long time since Judiah used this path since I told him off,” Lenard explained after shoving off a couple of more boxes towards Caramella who caught it and carefully placed them on the floor to avoid making noise. “Why would you tell him off?” “Well, he’s been always drinking before I married him and now that we are married, I want him to remove that bad habit of his” Lenard said before finally pointing at the wall. Caramella stared at it intently and she noticed that the wallpaper had been cut meticulously in a square shape, enough to hide a vent that could fit one person. There are also some scratch marks on the said wall, probably made by Lycans that transformed into their wolf forms. “So, how do you open it?” Caramella asked. Lenard held out a finger and pressed a specific location on the floor. Click, clank The secret panel opened up slowly, and like the mouth of an oven, the door swung outwards and Lenard caught it before gently placing it on the floor. Caramella expected a vent that is just as large as the door, but instead, was presented to a smaller crawling space that is just enough for a child or a wolf to crawl to. “I won’t fit in there” she whispered angrily, “That’s impossible for me” Lenard smirked, “Then transform to your wolf form, you lying Lycan” Caramella was caught off guard by that, her eyes widened in realization, “H-How did you know?” she mumbled with jaws wide open in shock. The Omega male Lycan was slowly transforming to his golden wolf form, “We are completely doused in darkness since we left the perimeter where the window is shining the light but you didn’t notice. Meaning, you have night vision just like us. Not to mention…” Lenard, who is now a wolf, sniffed her leg and smirked very cheekily before entering the vent that leads to another room. Caramella looked down and saw one stray red fur stuck between her feet and heels. She sighed, “How did he even notice that?” Apparently, Lenard’s eyesight is also enhanced.
