Chapter 15: Pincer Attack

1726 Words
Chapter 15 Darius is preparing intensely for the pincer attack that he and his uncle have planned out together. They are to corner the wolves up to the captain’s quarters and finish them off right then and there, with Darius’ leading the werewolves upwards and his uncle moving them forward. They can easily overwhelm the werewolves as long as the sun rises, then, the werewolves will get significantly weaker than them. “You look confident” a voice, almost the same as his, said from behind him. He is sitting on one of the chairs that surrounds the long table where the map of the ship is laid out, along with a line of guns loaded in silver bullets. Darius didn’t even turn around to know who was talking to him, because it was his eldest brother, Daryll Glee Avagoth. He is the only man taller than him in their household, and the one with the most uncanny similarities with him. Long black hair tied to a low ponytail, draped over his left shoulder, square like face with sharp jaw, sharp dark gray eyes and an irritating grin that Darius would love to smack right off his face. “What do you want?” Darius grumbled, obviously implying the fact that he doesn’t enjoy his brother’s company. Sadly though, Daryll doesn’t give two craps about Darius’ feelings and would rather annoy his little brother more to his content and amusement. “Why? I can’t see my little brother working on our winning plan?” Daryll asked, shrugging his broad shoulders nonchalantly, “Besides, I lead the people in here just fine even after you went ahead and looked for your damsel in distress first before thinking about your family” Darius gritted his teeth, “You let the human crew of the ship die out there, Glee. If it wasn’t for me, you would have used the crew as meat shields” he said, ignoring the fact that his brother knew about Caramella, his mate. “Well yes, but shouldn’t our family come first? Who cares if one or two humans out there die? That’s their fault for being a low born and a weakling” Daryll laughed, “That’s just how nature works, Darius” It's true that some Lycans still think of humans as lesser beings than them, but most of them are from the older generation. Darius knew that Daryll likes humans in a way that they are a fun company to have for him. Daryll always takes in human Omegas to bed every time he can and has a lot of human friends too, but of course, that is all behind their father’s back. He is only showing ruthlessness to the humans right now to gain their father’s favor who dislikes humans. Darius didn’t talk back to his brother, because the more he argued with Daryll the more Daryll thinks he is winning despite being on the losing side. Someone who doesn’t realize they are losing an argument are always the people who you don’t want to even speak with. “By the way. Your damsel in distress looks beautiful tonight, I was about to speak with her but apparently you let her go out there with the captain’s little husband” Daryll started poking on him again. “That’s none of your business, Glee” Darius pointed out, grabbing his g*n from his waist belt and checking it for ammo. Darius was hesitant to let Caramella out and thinking about locking her up in one of the safe rooms that they are guarding for the VIPs, but considering her stubborn nature, he let her go to make him more likable to her. Of course he also worries about Oliver, their son, but he still wasn’t a hundred percent sure if Oliver is really his child. ‘She might not trust me, but I believe in her strength. She looks like a capable woman…and hopefully, a Lycan and not a Vampire’ “I also heard she has a son, but I don’t think that’s true since I see her without a child on your way here” Darius stopped inspecting his g*n and glared up at Daryll who was sitting cross legged on the chair next to him, pushing the guns around with his finger, “As I said, none of your business?” Daryll smiled, “Oh, did that actually bait you in?” he chuckled, “Well, I guess rumors are just rumors. But I still can’t believe that you are actually trying to court an Omega, not to mention, a HUMAN Omega” Darius bared his teeth, “What are you implying?” “Nothing much, just think of it as you losing to me” Daryll said with an annoying grin before standing up and fixing his untouched suit, very different to Darius’ clothes that are stained with soot and debris. He watched his brother enter the hallway towards where the VIP rooms are and shook his head slightly, ‘What an i***t, he thought I had Caramella in one of the VIP rooms. Thankfully, I let her go with Lenard’ he thought. … Caramella and Lenard reached the end of the vent in the captain’s bedroom where the least presence can be felt. Bang, boom, CRASH! They halted midway, looking around as the ship rumbled slightly, swaying forwards and backwards. She looked at Lenard who was also looking at her worryingly, ‘what is happening outside?’ she thought before perking her head up. That’s when she heard the voice of someone she’s been looking for- “Mister, look! The sun is rising!” Oliver’s voice echoed in the vents. The mere sound of Oliver’s voice made Caramella’s wolf tail sway in happiness, she squeezed in between Lenard and the vent wall, making the smaller wolf whimper. And she started crawling as fast as she could towards where they heard Oliver’s voice. Lenard was about to bite her tail but he saw the joy and the relief in her eyes that made him just let the rude shoving go. “Leave werewolves! You all are no match to us once that sun truly shines in the sky! You will only march on to your deaths!” A loud roaring voice of an elder Lycan rang from the outside, shaking the ship even more. ‘The sun is about to rise!’ Caramella was overjoyed by what she heard from the outside, ‘That means we can easily rescue Oliver and the captain after they transform back to their human form!’ Lenard crawled faster behind her too, just as overjoyed as Caramella. Just before Caramella can reach the opening to the vent, she slowly transforms back into human form, lying down in the vent with her head exactly facing the vent opening below them. Lenard almost hit her a*s, but managed to stop himself. She peeked excitedly out of the vent and saw the captain’s room that is miraculously untouched, and two figures by the window. One tall man with short wavy hair and sitting on his arm is a small boy. Caramella can’t explain just how relieved she was to see her son safe amidst the war that is happening in the ship. “Oliver?!” She called out, punching off the vent cover and sending it across the room. The two were startled out of their wits, making Victor jump off the headboard of the bed where they are standing up to peek out of the window. Oliver gasped on his arms, his eyes widening in excitement at the sight of his mother climbing out of the vent and landing on the floor wonder woman style. “Mommy!” Oliver exclaimed, climbing down Victor's arms who let him down as gently as he can since the kid is wriggling in his arms so much, he almost accidentally made him fall. “Oliver! Oh dear Luna, I found you” Caramella excitedly knelt down on the ground to accept the running three years old to her arms, embracing him with great gusto. She can’t describe how relieved she is right now to be able to hold Oliver in her arms while being separated by a deadly war between werewolves and Lycans. She then held him by the shoulder and inspected him carefully, “Are you okay, Olie? You didn’t get hurt did you?” she asked erratically, raising his arms to check underneath his arms. “He’s fine. Oliver is with me” Victor said confidently, smiling down at them. “I’m not talking to you” Caramella glared at Victor, but deep down, she is actually relieved that someone like Victor helped her Oliver out, “But thank you” Victor chuckled weakly, “You’re welcome” Thunk A golden wolf landed behind Caramella who quickly transformed into a short man with golden hair and deep blue eyes, “Are we forgetting something here?” he said before pointing at the door with his thumb, “The pincer attack is about to start” Victor looked at the shorter male, “You’re the captain’s mate…” Lenard combed his hair upwards, “I am now shut up and listen to me quickly. As happy as I am for all of you, we have to quickly get out of here and save my man” Caramella nodded, caressing Oliver who looked tired as he leaned onto her, “Okay, I’m sorry. Yes, you are right, we have to get out of here first” “Not after we saved Judiah” Caramella looked at Oliver who was glancing in between the adults, “...But Oliver…” “Leave your son to this man. We found them didn’t we, and now we either go save Judiah together or you leave me here so I can save him myself” Victor who was confused, looked at Caramella, then at Lenard. “....Are you two planning on saving the captain?” Victor asked. “Yes” they both said together. As much as Caramella wanted to keep Oliver safe by going to the safe zone with him, she can’t just let Lenard fight the werewolves alone. And she also knew that she can’t persuade Lenard to save captain Judiah later after the pincer attack. So- “Fine, I’ll go with you”
