Chapter 10: Werewolves On The Ship! Part 3

Chapter 10 Caramella felt pathetic being surrounded by Lycan’s who are holding shields to protect her. Back in her teens, she was constantly trained to be one of the best warriors just like her Aunt Deserie and she was always ahead of her peers on both mental and physical strengths. That’s why being protected like this by weaker Lycans made her feel so pathetic right now. ‘If only I can transform. But for the sake of Oliver’s future, I will endure this humiliation’ she thought, walking leisurely towards where the Avagoth clan group is huddled for safety. The bullets kept on hitting the large bulletproof shields that were surrounding them. ‘It’s impressive to think that they have special shields on such an occasion. Not to mention that training the security on how to handle these shields was Darius’ idea…speaking of Darius-’ Caramella glanced upwards to sneak a peek at the tall Alpha next to her, speaking through the phone with a silver colored g*n on his other hand. ‘All he needs is a cigarette and he’ll look like a mafia boss’ she sighed, ‘I can’t believe how attracted I am to his physical appearance. It was as if god created his looks based on my taste with men’ “I called my uncle” Darius suddenly said, putting down the phone and handing it to Frowen who was walking next to him. “Your uncle?” Caramella raised a brow. “Trust me, I have a plan” “I DO trust you…” She crossed her arms, “For now that is” Darius dangled the silver g*n in front of her, a beautiful desert eagle with a white slick grip. Caramella looked at the g*n before glancing at Darius in confusion. “You want me to take this?” She pointed at the g*n that was probably loaded with silver bullets. Caramella is not really the type to hold a g*n, although she is pretty decent at it, holding a g*n reminds him of hunters who used to kill her kind back in the days. So she declined even with Darius’ pleading eyes, “I won’t take that” “Take it, Ms. Sugar. For your own safety” He tried again. “No way am I holding that. I would rather use my fist” At that exact time, they reached the safe spot for the Avagoth clan, which is the lower floor beneath the captain’s quarters. She quickly get out of the circle of shields and stepped towards the room where humans are huddled together and the Lycans are holding guns, aiming at the stairs that lead down to the safe room. The room they are in is the ball room. The people inside are panicked, but they are safe inside the room. There are families holding each other for safety, VIPs who are complaining about the ruckus, servants who are helping the medics while running around with errands from their superiors. There are also a lot of injured people that are being laid on the empty spaces on one side of the ball room where they pushed all of the chairs and tables aside. Caramella frowned at the severity of the situation, “Just how many werewolves managed to infiltrate your security?” she turned to look at Darius who also looked very angry. To be honest, Caramella was scared by his dark expression. Darius shook his head slowly, “I have no say to this. But I also have no excuses” “...This is none of your fault, young master” Frowen patted his master on the back, “This party is arranged by your father and brothers, this has nothing to do with you or your competency as their superior” “Even so, I could have handled the situation better” Then Darius looked at Caramella guiltily, “Instead, I went and looked for an opportunity instead” Caramella was shocked and internally angry at the same time, ‘Is he implying that he didn’t manage to save his injured subordinates because of me?! I was not the one who came after him! He was the one who decided to come to me and find me!’ she huffed, biting her lower lip. But she can’t really show her anger, not when it is true that Darius saved her life in that smoke. “Reporting to the young master!” A security member bowed to Darius, “We have concluded that there are fifty-six guests are injured, twenty-five of the security are injured, seventy-six guests are still not in the safe zone and…” the security member hesitated, “there are at least thirteen bodies recovered, and still counting” Darius gritted his teeth. He already hated his brothers for being incompetent but to this extent? He can’t forgive them for not checking security. “There are ten minutes left before sunrise, I have already called my uncle who is holding up in the gymnasium on the other side of the ship. They’ll be here at sunrise, so prepare the main security for combat and a pincer attack” Darius commanded the security member who saluted before leaving to report back to the security officers. Then he looked down at Caramella who was looking at him with those icy blue eyes that has a complicated emotion inside them. He would compliment her more since she looks so beautiful with her black glittery dress that hugged her body to show her curves, and pursue her further. But he can’t do that now that his blood is boiling towards his incompetent brothers. “I’ll get the timing right” Caramella told him with now determined eyes. Darius shoved the g*n that Caramella rejected, on her hands. “Take this” he begged, “Please” The only reason he can beg like this to Caramella is because she is his chance. She is his ace card that he can use to usurp what he wants the most. And he will do everything to pursue her and claim that chance and her dying is not very ideal to his future plans. Caramella glared at him but he ignored her obviously annoyed face. He tried to look more concerned than he actually is, trying to show her how much she means to him. Darius has investigated her since he found out about that peculiar night four years ago, when he woke up in a hotel bed with her sleeping peacefully next to him. He thought that he just had a one night stand with some random beautiful woman he found at the hotel bar, but he can’t believe that she is more useful than he ought. If he knew about that ‘promise’ a long time ago, he would have tried to find her and their son earlier. He found out that Caramella is a strong woman who survived living on her own with a child while having nothing, not even a penny on her name; for short, she was disowned. He also managed to get information about her through her colleagues at the bar she was working at and they described her to be a cool, friendly woman who can handle Alphas very well even if they try to overwhelm her with their pheromones. She was even dubbed as ‘Icy Queen’ or ‘Cold Crimson Princess’. But they all say the same thing…that she is sympathetic, caring and kind. That’s why even if it's underhanded, Darius is trying to use those good traits of her to make her his official mate and to have a room in her heart. The only problem is that he wasn’t a hundred percent sure if Caramella is a Lycan. For some reason when he tries to dig further information about her and her family that disowned her, there is another unknown clan blocking her information. They might be her relatives or she might be important to them. But he is at least seventy percent sure that she is a Lycan. “I will not use a g*n. I will be fine with my own body” Caramella pushed the g*n towards him as if it was a ticking bomb, “Besides I don’t know how to use this” Darius squinted his eyes at ther, “Then just hold on to it” he said lifting his hands on his chest as a sign of surrender, “It may come in handy when the time comes” They looked each other on the eyes for a long while, before finally, Caramella gave in. She groaned before sighing deeply, “Fine, give me a holster so I can put it around my waist” she finally grasped the g*n tightly on her hand. Darius’ face brightened up at that despite their dire situation, “Good, then I’ll ask one of the security to bring a holster and a belt. I’ll be discussing the plan with the officers” Caramella just nodded and watched Darius’ large back walk towards the group of security officers who were waiting around a long rectangular table. They bowed then saluted him before greeting him with a ‘Welcome, young master!’. She looked down on the beautiful white g*n on her hand, ‘As much as I don’t like him for being so pushy and an abandoning asshole, I do admire his competence and leadership’ she looked up to look at Darius who is now commanding the officers double time to take care of the guests, ‘I just wish he would have come find us sooner’
