Chapter 13
The two wolves are now prowling inside a vent system. One is a smaller golden wolf and the other is a red fierce looking wolf. They can’t speak to each other through their mouths so they usually communicate through gestures.
Its awkward for Caramella because it's been so long since she last transformed in her full wolf form but thankfully, she can still control her other self very well.
‘This is absurd. How can Lenard smell my Lycan fur just by a mere strand? That’s like impossible’ she thought as she looked at Lenard’s golden tail that was swaying ever so slightly as they walked into the narrow pathway, enough only for their wolf form. She imagined transforming back to her human form in this pathway and it gives her the chills just thinking about how her human body could get mangled and squished.
‘This is horrifying’
Suddenly, Lenard stopped and she stopped too. She peaked at where they stopped and noticed another wall.
Lenard looked at her with his deep blue eyes for a moment before pressing something on the wall on their left with his paw. The wall opened up quietly, revealing another dark room. But the room is not empty just like before, instead, there is a sleeping werewolf sitting on a crate while holding a rifle. They are in a storage room for what seems like emergency food and supplies.
Caramella cringed at their humanoid/monster appearance.
‘They don’t look like natural werewolves’ she thought. It's true, the man looks more like a monster than the werewolves she typically sees back in her hometown.
Lenard gestured for her to follow him, and she did.
She thought that they were just going to leave the sleeping werewolf alone but instead, Lenard approached the werewolf fearlessly.
Caramella bit on to Lenard’s tail gently, getting his attention on her. Lenard turned around with a snarling expression, obviously annoyed that she bit him.
‘What are you doing?!’ she thought, and her wolf face made a confused expression before she pointed a paw at the werewolf.
Lenard pointed a paw at the werewolf too and made a slitting the throat gesture.
‘This crazy little wolf!’ she bared her teeth but didn’t stop him, ‘But I guess that’s the safest option for now’
She followed Lenard. They sneaked up behind the sleeping werewolf and Lenard bared his teeth behind the poor beast’s nape.
Crack, pssshh
Caramella watched as blood spurted out of the werewolf’s broken neck, flinching at the sickening noise of the cracking of the spinal cord. The werewolf’s eyes went open for a moment with fear in its eyes, but he didn’t even stand a chance at the strong bite of a Lycan, and soon, life faded in his eyes.
Killing someone, even if they are an enemy has always terrified Caramella. But she also knew that in times like this, fear will not overcome her and mercy is useless. All she can do now is pray for the dead.
‘Rest in peace. May you enter the moon’s paradise’ she thought, lowering her head.
Lenard also looks disgusted and horrified, with a lot of blood on his muzzle and inside of his mouth. He shook his head and gestured for Caramella to follow him again, despite looking so terrible for killing someone.
They went towards the door that leads to the open captain’s quarters where the enemies are piled up.
Lenard transformed back to a human for a moment and looked down on Caramella, as adorable as he looks, there is a sense of danger and threat now that there is thick blood around his mouth looking like a pretty blonde cannibal.
At that moment, we heard muffled screaming on the other side of the door. Lenard gasped, perking his head up, his deep blue eyes shining.
“We have to split up from here on out” Lenard whispered, “I can hear my mate on the other side of this door”
Caramella also transformed back to her human form, “Are you crazy? There are werewolves prowling out of that door right now, we should follow the secret vent until we find them” she argued.
“But…” Lenard looked longingly at the door, “I-I just want to see him. I know they might have taken him hostage, or worse, Judiah might be dying out there but I still have to see him…please?”
Caramella grabbed Lenard’s arm. She can’t understand why Lenard, who seems like a cool headed person, would risk something like his life to save his mate. Perhaps if it was Oliver that she was saving, then she could risk her life for her child like that too.
“Look me in the eyes, Lenard” Caramella said in a serious tone, “We have to stick together and find an opportunity to save everyone. We can devise a plan that will help me and you both, okay? We don’t have to rush…just, trust your mate that he’s still alive. We’ll stick to Darius’s plan”
She can tell that Lenard is having an argument with himself right now, whether he would go out there to risk a look and be captured or killed by the enemy OR he can stick with her and they can follow the plan but risk his mate’s life. But Caramella can also tell that Lenard will make the best choice for the both of them.
Lenard sighed softly before nodding, placing a hand over his racing chest, “You’re right. I shouldn’t be too ahead of myself. We have to stick to the plan”
…
They continued to go through the secret vent that they found in the storage room that leads towards the large captain’s bathroom, skipping a few rooms that have enemies in them. For now, the bathroom has no one in it.
Caramella is peeking through a convenient hole that is directly parallel to the shower room.
‘Why is there a peeping hole in here?’ she wondered but shook her head when Lenard, in his wolf form, shoved her aside gently and pressed a button.
A panel opened up right by the shower where they crawled their way out.
Caramella transformed back to her human form and dusted her dress again, she kept doing that the past while but she can’t help it.
“So, how come there’s a peeping hole in there?” she asked Lenard who just transformed back to his human form.
“...I didn’t even know it was there until you peeked into it. Judiah might have installed it to watch me shower. That freak” Lenard rolled his eyes.
“Wow, Captain Jude seems like a real p*****t”
“Towards me, yes. And it's tormenting me every time” Lenard sighs loudly as he walks towards the bathroom door, “Let’s lock this shall we?”
And at that exact moment, the door clicked open. A werewolf stepped inside, looking back towards the outside of the bathroom and laughing at his fellow werewolves outside. And when he turned to look at the bathroom, Lenard and the werewolf came face to face with each other.
They were silent for a brief moment, stunned.
“Crap” Caramella grumbled and used that moment to run and jump, kicking the werewolf straight on the face and piercing the bridge of his nose with her long heel. There was a sickening c***k of the skull as the poor werewolf flew across the room outside, his body hitting the wall.
The two werewolves outside that were just talking to each other, looked at the dead werewolf that hit the wall before looking back to where they were.
“Lycans!” One of them screamed loudly, and Caramella is a hundred percent sure it was heard all the way to the open captain’s quarters where a lot of them were waiting.
Caramella clicked her tongue in irritation before removing her bloodied heels and holding them like a weapon with the pointy heels pointing downwards, ready to bash some skull in. She quickly jumped over towards the werewolf who just shouted and rode on his shoulder before hitting the werewolf on the head with her heels.
The werewolf whimpered in pain before scratching upwards with his sharp claws, almost hitting Caramella who jumped off from his shoulders quickly. The werewolf growled at her, his temple bleeding badly.
“You’re tougher than the other one” she commented before crouching down, “But not tough enough”
Then in one cheetah-like sprint, she dashed towards her unsuspecting enemy and punched him with all of her strength on her arm. The werewolf grunted, his diaphragm bursting and his rib cage destroyed in that one impact where he went flying across the hallway. The impact made a loud woosh noise and the air around her went wild for a brief moment.
She hasn’t used that much superpower since four years ago, so the thrill of fighting made her lose control and use too much power to kill the enemy.
“That was sick and all, but a little help please?” Lenard asked for help, pinned down on the wall by the other werewolf who is shoving his rifle on Lenard’s neck.
Caramella threw one of her heels on the werewolf and it hit him dead straight on the back of the head, the heel inside of his skull and piercing his brain.
It was ridiculous how strong she was. Or maybe, the werewolves are just that weak.
“You okay?” she asked as she rushed towards Lenard who was holding his windpipe, coughing violently.
“Yes, but we have to hurry. Now they know that we're on the floor of the ship. We have to look for them double time”
