Chapter 14
They are running towards a long hallway by the side of the ship, hiding from incoming werewolves who are looking for them by entering from room to room. They managed to get spotted only a couple of times and Caramella has been adjusting her superpower ever since.
“We have to go back to the captain’s quarters, Judiah is still in there” Lenard said as they hid on the corner of the hallway while bullets flew towards them, chipping on the wall.
“We already checked every room on this floor, and you are correct. The captain’s quarters is the last thing on the list” Caramella said, ducking against the wall, huffing, “but what way should we take? They are everywhere”
Lenard looked around for a moment and smiled when he looked up, “The real vent. They won’t see us in there”
Caramella looked up too and saw the ventilation system, “Are you serious? Again?”
“What choice do we have? It's the safest route back to the captain’s quarters, as long as they won’t realize where we are” Lenard shrugged.
“And how can we get inside it?”
Lenard pointed at the next room, “There must be an entrance in the cleaning closet, let’s go”
Their pursuers must have realized that they are running again since they chased after them. Caramella used her last high heel and threw it towards one the the three werewolves running towards them, hitting him straight on the right eye.
“AAGGGHHHhh” the werewolf screamed, kneeling in defeat before rolling on the ground. The two werewolves didn’t even flinch at their comrade’s eye being stabbed by a high heel.
“Dear Luna, you never miss do you” Lenard cringed at the sight before they turned a corner, “I didn’t want to see that today”
Caramella shrugged, “Says the one who bit off a nape of a werewolf”
Lenard dashed to another corner again before pulling Caramella towards a small cleaning room and quickly closed the door before their pursuers can turn the corner.
They breathe heavily, their adrenaline still rushing in their system with their heartbeat racing. Caramella leaned on the door after she locked it behind her and watched Lenard look around the small room quickly, shoving cleaning materials everywhere. After pushing some janitor uniforms on the side, an entrance to the vent finally showed itself.
“What would happen if you didn’t find your son?” Lenard asked as he was transforming into his golden wolf form.
Caramella hesitated, “The plan will still continue. As soon as the sun began to rise, we will commence the pincer attack, whatever happens” she bit her lip, “I’ll find Oliver after the attack if necessary”
Lenard, who is now a wolf, nodded.
She removed the vent cover with ease, bending the metal and throwing it on the floor before transforming into her wolf form too.
‘Oliver, please be safe’ she prayed.
…
They are crawling in the vents for the second time that day, but thankfully, it is large enough for them to walk easily and not bump their a*s on the side of the wall like the secret vent.
They avoided every passage where enemies were by relying on Lenard’s hearing and they safely made it to the captain’s quarters.
“Oh dear Luna, there are a lot of them” Lenard commented after peeking at the slit of the vents and looking down at the werewolves in the captain’s quarters living room area.
“Can you switch with me?” Caramella whispered and Lenard squeezed past under her larger wolf form.
She peeked slightly too, to avoid their werewolf beast eyes.
There are a lot of them, full of them even. There are werewolves playing cards on the sofa, surrounding the table completely like some gamblers den. There are werewolves by the door that leads outside, holding large rifles while talking to each other. There are werewolves leaning on the walls, counting dollars and looking at bloodied trinkets that they might have robbed from dead bodies. But not only that…
‘Is one of those captured Lycans, Lenard’s mate?’ Caramella pointed with her paw at the bound men that are kneeling on the ground with a large glass wall behind them that shows the raging sea outside. Standing in front of them is a large werewolf that has white fur, different from the others and clearly, their Leader.
Lenard squeezed on Caramella’s left side and peeked out of the hole carefully before whimpering quietly, nodding his head as his eyes became blurry and hopeful. Caramella can see the slight relief in his deep blue eyes.
The captain, Judah Powell, is a lovely looking man that looks very athletic. He is olive skinned beauty with short nicely trimmed dark brown hair and sea green eyes that resembles the caribbean. He is probably one of the most good looking men out there that Caramella has seen, and would have probably tried to hit on him if he wasn’t married already.
“You are going to regret this, you cursed beings” Judiah snarled at his captor, the large white werewolf.
“Try talking like that after you’re in hell, captain. Now you tell me where the keys are to the Treasury Room” the white werewolf smirked down at Judiah whose arms and feet were bound with silver chains.
“What the hell are you even trying to start by messing with the Avagoth clan? Huh? Meet our goddess? The Luna?”
“This rich clan is already dancing at the palm of my hands, captain. And if you keep talking like that, you’re the one who's going to meet the moon goddess” The white werewolf bared his huge mouth on the kneeling captain, ready to take a bite off his neck if necessary.
Judiah cringed at the smell of the werewolf’s breath, “Go ahead then, but you won’t be able to find the key if I’m dead now won’t you”
Caramella wanted to ask what they were talking about, but they can’t speak human tongue right now.
The white werewolf retreated his sharp teeth and instead knelt on one knee and faced Judiah with his snout pointing downwards, staring at the captain eye to eye with his wolf eyes.
“Now I heard that there is one pretty chick in this ship” The werewolf pulled out a dagger from his waist, a wavy dagger that shines with silver that has a golden lining. A very intriguing yet beautiful dagger.
Judiah twitched at the mention of this chick.
“Golden hair with eyes as blue as the noon cloudless sky. Adorable with supple white skin. A charming young boy that made a tough navy captain enamored” the werewolf smirked again, brandishing the dagger in front of them, “I am a beast captain…and that chick, sounds enticing to eat”
Caramella shuddered as she watched the creepy white wolf run his tongue on the dagger. She can feel Lenard trembling besides her too, obviously afraid of the werewolf.
Judiah was gritting his teeth, “You won’t have a chance to lay a finger on him” he growled dangerously, “I will kill you before you can even reach him”
The white werewolf stood up, putting the dagger back to its sheath, “...Well, I heard he is looking for you right now. And at any moment, we will find him and his little helper too” the werewolf’s eyes curved up happily like two crescent moons, “I will devour him in front of you until there is nothing left of him, and we won’t stop until you cry out the location of the Treasure Room’s key”
Judiah spat on the werewolf, landing on his suit. He glared at the werewolf fiercely, “I will tear you apart before that, you creepy asshole”
The white werewolf looked down on his spit stained pant leg and glared down at Judiah before laughing, “You’re insane captain”
Whack!
Judiah crumpled forward in pain as his back hit the glass window behind him that left a c***k. He was kicked right on the stomach and all of the air went out of his lungs on the impact.
Blood oozed from the side of his lips.
Lenard tried to lean in further forward to see his mate but Caramella nibbled on his fur, stopping him in his tracks. They looked at each other for a couple of seconds and Caramella glared at him while shaking her head, implying that it's a foolish move to reveal their location right now.
She knows the feeling of seeing someone you love being hurt in front of you and yet cannot do anything and she is willing to console Lenard after this.
Lenard was hesitant, but he gave up eventually.
They decided to let go of the bound men and the injured captain for now.
Caramella looked at Lenard with worry, ‘He looks very worried for his husband, I hope he won’t do anything stupid after this, or else were the one screwed. Hopefully, he will realize that they won’t kill Captain Judy yet because they need something from him’
As they were crawling towards the room with the least people in it, she started piling up the things that she found out about what is happening with the whip and the war in general,
‘My aunt is probably still looking for me until now, and Victor, who has Oliver, is the other Lycan chasing me back from the house. I escaped from them but now I dipped my toes into something more sinister, crap. First off the werewolves hijacked the ship, kidn*pped some sailors and started asking the captain about a key to a ‘Treasure Room’. They are also using smoke that can hinder Lycan abilities…’
Caramella can feel her head start aching with all the questions she has, ‘I escape one problem, and put myself into two more problems. Just how bad is my luck?! Ugh’
