Chapter 6: A Terrible Escape Part 2

Chapter 6 They are still on the run above the buildings, like an assassin hopping in and out of view because of how fast Caramella moves. Ever so often, Oliver would point at things he finds amusing and release some sweet happy pheromones that can help Caramella focus on the task ahead. However, after just fifteen minutes when they abandoned the apartment, Oliver pointed behind her. “Mommy, there are dogs chasing us. Fluffy ones, the one we saw in the zoo, mommy” he said, leaning further at his mother’s shoulder to take a closer look. Caramella was surprised that her Aunt Deserie and her Russian subordinate had already caught up to her. ‘That was too fast, how did they catch up to me so quickly!’ she gritted her teeth again, ‘It’s time to get faster. I hope Oliver is going to be okay’ “Olie, hold on tight, sweetie” she ushered her son, “Wrap your arms around my neck and close your eyes if you are feeling sick okay? Mommy is going to speed things up” Oliver nodded and wrapped his little arms around her neck just like she told him. He can still see the silhouette of the approaching wolves that are moving faster than the car on the road below them. “Oof” Oliver grunted weakly when Caramella sped up drastically, running as fast as she could with her two legs. She could be even faster if she is in her full Lycan form, but she can’t afford to show her true self to her son just yet. The right time will come when she will reveal her form to him. Besides, she can’t hold Oliver in her wolf form. “Ack!” The boy hid on his mother’s shoulder, burying his face. “Sorry, Olie. We have to go fast or those wolves will tag us!” Caramella jumped to the next building again, sliding on a glass building roof. “Those are wolves?” Oliver who was just anxious with the sudden burst of speed is now looking at the approaching silhouettes with great interest. Caramella can finally see the docks and she can see three large ships in total that is about to depart. ‘If I can’t outrun them, then I should use the crowd to confuse them and get in one of the ships. Even if they did manage to learn my plan of getting on a ship, they will have to choose one of them to board and even if they split up, at least we could hide better if only one of them is on the ship’ she thought, judging each of the ships on where they could easily slip in. They are all luxury cruiser ships with long lines of people in formal attires. There are also workers going in and out of the ships. ‘I don’t know why they are having a party at like four in the morning but who cares. We just have to blend in’ she thought before looking behind her where she can clearly see two wolves, snarling and glaring at her. She swallowed and stopped on the rooftop of a hotel that is facing the docks. She dropped down on one of the balconies below and prayed to the lord that there is no one in the room that she chose. Thankfully, when she peeked inside the balcony door, there seemed to be no one inside. Caramella thought on how to enter the balcony door without breaking it. Sadly, it seems that breaking it is the only option. “Can you place your hands on your ears, Olie?” She smiled sweetly and waited patiently until Oliver used his hands to close his ears even though they are being chased. She nodded when Olie asked for confirmation if he did it right. Caramella undid the transformation on her feet and focused her strength on her free hand after placing their bags down. She used her pointy finger to poke off the lock of the balcony door which popped right off with only a minimal sound. The metal lock and the small amount of glass pieces that broke off with the lock flew inside the empty room and clattered on the carpeted floor. She gave Oliver a thumbs up as she opened the balcony door, indicating that it is okay for him to take off his hands. “Good job, Olie. Now remember next time, if I tell you to block your ears, do exactly that” she said and Olie nodded back in understanding. She opened the lights in the room and waited for a while if someone heard the breaking of things from the outside. But after a while, she deduced that no one heard it. Caramella placed Oliver on the bed, letting him sit there. “Do not get off the bed, Olie. There are some glass shards on the floor, okay?” she said softly. “Okay mommy” Oliver pulled his feet up and hugged them, sitting on the bed obediently. Caramella erased their pheromone scent by spraying in the hotel perfume that she found on the bedside table by the balcony entrance. Then, she pulled the curtains to cover the balcony door. ‘Hopefully, this will do the trick and buy us some time’ she thought before exploring the hotel room. She found out that there is someone in this hotel room, to be exact, a rich family of three. There are suitcases full of clothes by the foot of the bed and there are hanging formal clothes in the bathroom. Her eyes sparkled at the sight of hope and her plan had finally started to take form. She clasped her hands together in what looks like a prayer, ‘I’m sorry random rich family. I need these clothes to escape from my family and to protect Oliver! I hope you don’t mind’ … Deserie is angry. Of course she is angry at her niece who just pepper sprayed her and made her unable to move for almost fifteen minutes but mostly, she is angry at herself for being incompetent. “Ugh…I can’t believe we lost them. We were so close” she gritted her teeth before kicking a can from a rooftop. The can flew across the sky and into the ocean where they are currently facing. There are three large ships in front of them with some sort of an event happening and it is impossible to track Carmella in such a situation unless they stand out. “We should just go back and tell your Leader that she escaped” her companion, the Russian Lycan, said next to her. He is tall with light blonde hair and a large body. He is wearing a black plaid pants, black pointy shoes and black turtleneck under a creamy brown coat, making him look like a CEO from a drama. He is Victor Felle, a Lycan from the Golden Order clan…and her husband. “Shut up, Vicky. You also let them get away” she growled, side eyeing her husband who only smirked at her. “Come on, those two didn’t do anything bad. In the contrary, I think it's best to not let them get involved in the war” Victor said with a blank face, “What could two more people do to help with the war anyway” Deserie gripped the iron railings of the rooftop building they were in tightly, making an ugly dent. “You won’t understand because you are not from the Azanthus clan, Vicky” Deserie frowned, “My niece, Carmilla…she has a very special supernatural ability. We NEED that” Victor suddenly looked serious, “This is the first time I’m hearing you sound so desperate, Deserie and we’ve been married for two years already. Can you perhaps tell me why your niece is so special?” Deserie shook her head, “Even I don’t know what it is exactly. All I know is that the Leader wants her back. This makes me think of why the Leader banished her in the first place” “Maybe it's a power they found out recently” Victor mumbled, glaring back at the swarm of people that was entering the ships. “There is no such possibility…even I had a hard time tracking down Carmilla even with her son. The Lycans who can find her have to be someone with a sharper sense than me and I am the person who has the sharpest sense in my clan. The Leader must have known beforehand that she has this special ability” Deserie sighed, “But even without a special ability, I think having Carmilla as one of our warriors is already a merit for the war” Victor smirked at that, “Is she that powerful? For even you, who is called the ‘Red Assassin’ to be praising her?” Deserie nodded, “Yes. If I dare say so myself, she could be the next Leader if she was born an Alpha” “I see…then its quite unfortunate that she was kicked out of the clan” “It is. If she stayed and trained for the last four years she was not in the clan. She might have already surpassed me in terms of power” Deserie closed her eyes, “And I…might have been the proudest teacher” Victor looks surprised, “So my wife has the passion to teach” he teased, smiling suddenly. Deserie opened her eyes and saw her husband’s face, only three inches away from hers, making her blush. “Get away from me” she growled but was instead, shocked when she felt soft lips on hers. Victor kissed her, a small peck. “You’re so adorable when you try to push me away even though you don’t mean it” Victor teased again, laughing at Deserie’s red face. “I didn’t marry you for this, Vicky” Deserie covered her mouth with her hands, frowning in embarrassment. Victor chuckled, “I know, Deserie. Because you love my everything…” He looks very lovestruck as he stared at Deserie and Deserie, a hardcore warrior and assassin, just couldn’t handle the situation. “You know what, let’s split up, Vicky. You on the left, I take the middle. I doubt Carmilla would take the ship on the right because the security is tighter there” Deserie changed the subject, “L-Let’s go, you i***t” “Technically, I’m your i***t. And by the way, you do realize that they are having a party at four in the morning right? Isn’t that weird?”
