Chapter 11
“So you are looking for a place to punch a hole through to get to the captain’s quarters above?” One of the sailors in the ship, who is an Omega Lycan, asked. He is a short male with golden hair and deep blue eyes, he has pretty pale skin and an adorable baby face that makes him look younger than he is.
Caramella has been staring at him for quite some time now and her eyes just keep drawing back to his small figure even if she tries to focus on the empty hallway in front of her. Lenard just reminds her of her baby cousin Omega who is also just as small and pretty as he is.
It's pretty obvious that Lenard has an official mate since he isn’t exhuding any alluring pheromones despite looking like a pretty angel that he is. There are also very visible Alpha teeth marks around his small nape that is barely covered by his short golden hair.
‘His Alpha must have been very overprotective…or he is possessive’ Caramella thought. Teeth marks from mating should leave a subtle scar but Lenard’s mark is too visible, meaning that his Alpha must’ve been biting him pretty frequently.
“I have keen ears and I memorized the ship’s floor plans from top to bottom so I am recommended for this absurd mission that you put me into, but…” Lenard looked at her while they were walking and found her looking at him too.
They made eye contact for a couple of awkward seconds and Caramella just smiled.
“…why is the young master allowing you to do this?” Lenard removed his eyes on her and looked back on the hallway in front of him.
Caramella tilted her head slightly in confusion, “What do you mean?” she asked.
“You heard that the captain in missing right?” Lenard said without missing a beat, “He is my mate and the officers wouldn’t let me out of the safe zone to look for him. Even the young master wouldn’t let me even if I begged him to”
‘Oh, that’s why I felt some hostility in his pheromones when we first met’ she thought.
“…I just insisted and so he let me do it” Caramella shrugged, “if he stopped me from going I would have told him that I would sue him for trespassing; then he wouldn’t be able to see Oliver”
“Oliver?”
“My son” she just answered casually, “He thinks that Oliver is his son too and that I am his supposed mate…”
Lenard halted on his steps and turned to look at Caramella as if he’s just seen something very amusing, “…The young master is chasing after you?”
Caramella shrugged but she looked offended, “Yes. Why? You asked me that as if it’s something weird”
Lenard’s large doe eyes went even wider with surprise, “No not really. I didn’t mean that you are not beautiful enough for him or anything… It's just surprising to find out that the young master is pursuing someone. Especially someone human…considering his circumstances…” he chuckled awkwardly.
There is something suspicious behind the last statement and it was stuck in the back of her mind.
‘What does he mean someone HUMAN? Is there a particular reason why Darius shouldn’t pursue a human or something? Or maybe it's just his preference?’ she thought. It’s suspicious that Darius kept on trying to expose her for being a Lycan and for his son as a Half-Lycan. She wondered what would happen if she told the truth that she is in fact a Lycan.
The curiosity got a hold of her, “What do you mean by that?” she asked, tilting her head towards Lenard who started walking faster as if to avoid her.
“Nothing, besides that’s not important” Lenard changed the subject quickly, “Before we proceed, I have a request to make” he said, as they stopped in front of a large double door that leads to what looks like the kitchen.
Lenard still looks as serious as before. Compared to his angelic cutesy look, she realized that he is a very stern person who doesn’t screw around just by looking at his face and posture. It's obvious that he is not your regular Dominant Omega.
“What kind of request?” Caramella already knew what request he was going to make, but asked anyway just to make sure.
Lenard balled up his hands into fists, “I want to look for my husband. So I will come with you”
Caramella only managed to persuade Darius to go alone because she promised not to do something dangerous and avoid any fights. She even let him use an ‘Anti-Pheromone Perfume’ to her so she can hide her scent from the enemies even though it would hinder her son to locate her through smell. The only reason she wants to go alone is because even if she uses her Lycan superpowers or transforms to look for Oliver, no one is going to point out that she’s not human.
‘And if Victor saw my transformation, I may have to silence him for good…for the sake of Oliver’s future’ she thought darkly.
She weighed her options. If she lets Lenard come with her, she can use him to find Oliver faster along with her senses, but there is going to be a chance that Lenard would suspect her to be a Lycan. On the other hand, if she didn’t let him come with her, he might try to go on his own and just by looking at the determination in his eyes, Lenard will really go even without her.
Caramella took a deep sigh; ‘Lenard seriously reminds me of my baby cousin…I hate to admit it but I am a softie when it comes to adorable and admirable people like him!’
“I will only let you come with me on one condition” she lifted up her finger, “And that you should always be close to me. Even if you are a Dominant Lycan, you are still a small Omega and I can protect you with this” then Caramella showed the white-silver g*n that Darius gave her.
Lenard pursed his lips tightly and nodded, “As long as I have the chance to look for my husband” he said bravely, “Even though I am weak. I will still go in the middle of the battlefield for him”
Caramella raised her brows. She is impressed.
“Can I learn the name of this lucky Alpha of yours?” she asked.
Lenard smiled slightly, “Judiah Powell, but I’ll allow you to call him Captain Jude”
…
They entered the kitchen together, a wide kitchen that mainly consists of metal. There are a lot of signs of struggling with bent metals here and there, destroyed machinery everywhere, broken utensils lying about, bloodstains and gunshot holes everywhere. The smell of blood and gunpowder is overwhelming for an Omega Lycan and as much as she hated the smell to the point of gagging, she hid her reactions because she is pretending to be human. Humans don't have heightened smell as Lycan’s do, thus, they would probably only smell blood if they are close to it.
Lenard on the other hand can’t help but cover his nose with his shirt, scrunching his nose.
“This smell is so much worse than a seasick vomit!” Lenard shook his head, “Ugh”
“I can only smell a little…is it really that worse for you?” Caramella acted as if there was nothing bothering her, only pulling out Darius’ g*n from her holster and raising it up towards her left cheek.
“You look like you know how to handle a g*n” Lenard whispered, trying not to step on the debris to avoid making unnecessary noises.
‘That’s because I’ve been trained my whole life to handle it’ she thought inwardly, “I’ve been to shooting ranges a couple of times. It’s one of my life hobbies” she lied.
“Nice” Lenard commented before his head perked up, stopping directly below a light and standing next to the ovens. His face was scrunched up in worry.
Caramella walked next to him, “What’s wrong?” she asked.
There was cold sweat forming on his forehead as he looked at Caramella with wide eyes, “There are more werewolves than I thought there would be,” he announced, “I can hear at least a dozen from the next room or more…”
Caramella frowned in response, “Really?”
Lenard nodded, “Yes. I’m weak in many aspects but I am very confident in my hearing skills, to the point that I can hear rain from a mile away…”
“So you mean that above us, there is an army of werewolves? Are you sure?” she whispered quieter, now a little afraid that the werewolves above could hear them.
“Yes. But weirdly enough, there is no one in the room above us” Lenard pointed upwards with his dainty fingers, “Considering that it's like the treasury room in the captain’s quarters, its weird that it hasn’t been rummaged through yet…I also can’t hear anyone in the captain’s bedroom”
“Okay, so where are we going to bust a hole to get up safely without being spotted?” Caramella asked seriously, focused on Lenard who was looking at the ceiling.
“Exactly above here…but the question is-”
They both looked at each other dumbly.
“How are we going to break through?”
“How exactly are we going to put a hole up there?”
