Thirty-Three SATURDAY MORNING DAWNS bright and clear, one of those fall days that always makes me glad to be alive. So glad in this case that I am actually excited to head out for my morning bike ride. Normally, I ride out into the country, but today I decide to take a spin through some of the more populated parts of our small town, wanting to have a look at some work being done on one of the local homes. I leave the rectory and pedal north past The Muffin Man bakery. Nina Hallstead is coming out with a large box of donuts that I remember Helen always orders for the station on the first Saturday of each month. Not noticing me, Nick, her husband, follows her out and grabs her around the waist, swinging her around for a kiss that reminds me that my wedding day cannot come soon
