MURDER.
Isla's POV.
"Can we come in?" Lila asked me with a smile as I stood in the pathway, my lips parting in surprise at seeing them here. Eric was right behind her, looking at something on the ground.
"Sure," I answered, paving the way for them to enter, even though my mind screamed no, but what could I say?
I was such a fool. I probably thought they were here to apologize or something.
"Are you cooking?" Lila questioned as she sniffled the air and I nodded, walking towards the kitchen to finish up.
"I am almost done," I replied and Eric cleared his throat as if to get my attention since I didn't even act like I knew he was in here.
"I have missed your home-made meals." He said and despite not wanting to, my heart melted, gladdening.
Lila nodded to his words and I chuckled, putting on the gas again. I guess everything was going to be alright, we were just having a misunderstanding after all.
A few minutes later, I served us and began to dig in after our said prayers. The meal was quiet with Lila and Eric continuously exchanging looks that I couldn't put my finger on.
"Okay, what is it?" I demanded to know after they both looked at me at the same time for the hundredth time.
Lila dropped her meal while Eric put the meat into his mouth before grabbing a glass of water and drowning it in a gulp.
"We are here to talk about your pregnancy," Lila answered and I felt a huge lump in my throat as I unconsciously placed my hand on my stomach to rub it.
"Feeling attached already?" Eric huffed and I frowned at him, knowing he was trying to mock me.
"You have to skip the Elder's test tomorrow," Lila spoke out and I widened my eyes at her.
"What are you saying? That would seem like I am lying when I am not." I reminded her in case she had forgotten but then paused and smiled sadly.
"But that's what you all want, don't you? For them to feel like I am lying." I added, absent-mindedly.
"Obviously," Eric said, his words cutting like glass as Lila jabbed him with her hand.
'He was doing it again, hurting me. Was I so wrong to give him my heart?' I pondered, making my decision.
"I will not skip the test." I refused and Lila glared at me.
"You will be ruining Eric's reputation then." She pointed out and I got up from the chair angrily.
"That will be better, also he should have thought of that before screwing me." I found myself yelling, before pointing towards my door.
"Get out now. Both of you." I ordered, and Eric reared backward in shock to see me yelling at him.
"You don't mean that, you are just angry so now sit your ass down." He tried to order me but I grabbed the jar of cold water on the table and sprayed it all over him.
Some spilled onto Lila's clothes whose jaw dropped to witness all these. Eric shut his eyes, his hands clenched into fists as he opened them back and scowled at me.
"You bitch." He seethed, and my heart panged, but I didn't show it; rather, I laughed.
How could I have been so blind to fall for him? Both he and Lila got up at the same time and exchanged some kind of signal.
"I am sorry, Isla, but you have left us no choice," Lila said and I arched my eyebrows at her in confusion before taking a step backwards as shivers ran down my spine.
She had flashed her claws while Eric moved swiftly to my door to lock it, same with my windows.
"W-what are you doing?" I stammered, getting this ominous feeling again as my stomach dropped from fear.
The side of Lila's lips curled up evilly, and before I could move further away, I felt Eric grab me from behind and shove a knife through my stomach.
I screamed in pain as I felt my insides tearing, blood dripping, and I began to find it difficult to breathe. All that was in my mind was my baby.
"We can't let you and that bastard live," Lila said but I paid no attention to her and found the strength to headbutt Eric instead.
He didn't expect it and loosened his hold on me. Lila saw this and scratched my face with her claws. The sting hit me like a burn but a strength that I had no idea where it came from hit me.
I screamed so loudly, and a wind appeared out of nowhere, destroying everything as the mark on my shoulders began to glow and burn from within.
Lila tried to attack me again, but I somehow controlled the wind to throw her out of the cottage, just as Eric had done.
I was bleeding heavily and tried to stop it, but to no avail. My legs wobbled and I collapsed on the floor, resulting in crawling.
My cottage was an isolated one in the woods so no matter how much I screamed, no one could save me.
"Hold on baby, mummy will save you," I whispered as tears rushed to the brim of my eyes as I crawled outside, wanting to reach for the wood to use to stabilize myself, but then I felt a huge kick to my stomach.
I moaned and coughed out blood, feeling all energy draining out of me as my mark kept glowing.
"You w***e. You are not supposed to have any powers." Lila yelled furiously as she continued to kick me as I cried, Eric standing in a corner and watching everything with awe in his eyes.
"I thought she was the curse. What is with the powers?" He questioned but Lila ignored him and used the knife on the floor to stab me again.
"Die. You know I staged your r**e and got Eric to save you so you could fall for him and he would abandon you like trash." Lila told me before spitting on my face.
My heart tightened in pain at this betrayal. I could feel the life of my unborn child slowly slipping out of me and rage built, burning through my veins as I gritted my teeth against one another.
Eric was pouring fuel all over me and my cottage, while Lila laughed manically.
"I will make you all pay." I struggled to say and Eric chuckled darkly.
"That's if you survive this." He mocked, and I fought hard to smile even though it hurt.
"Oh, I will, but in a way you all shall never expect, I shall return," I told him and the grin wiped off his face before he threw the lighter on me.
