Being a hybrid, my emotions are more heightened than humans or werewolves. I didn't want to scare my mate, but I felt like I was going to explode if I didn't tell her how I feel. I'm already in love with her, but instead I told her that I'm falling for her, deeply. I felt she would tense up or feel awkward or pressured to say she loves me back if I told her those words.
