CHRIS WAS ON base for a radiation treatment that Friday when Scooter called him.
“What’s up?” Chris said.
“Captain Inskeep wants to see us in his office.”
“When?”
“As soon as you’re through with the treatment, stop by my office and we’ll go see him together.”
“Do you know what he wants?”
“Yes, I do, but I’m under orders not to say anything.”
“Okay, then. See you in a few.”
After his treatment, Chris went straight to Scooter’s office, but before he could sit down, Scooter said, “Let’s go; he’s waiting for us.”
Chris and Scooter walked to the elevator and took it to the next floor. Captain Inskeep’s office was in the corner of the building, with windows that gave him a commanding view in two directions.
