A COUPLE OF MORNINGS later, Chris awoke to the sound of a ringing telephone. “Hello,” he said.
“Morning, buddy,” Mickey said. “Did I wake you?”
“As a matter of fact, you did; but since it’s you, I won’t complain. What’s up?”
“What’s up is that I’m coming to Jacksonville to visit our branch bank there. Actually, it’s not a branch, it’s a regional headquarters.”
“Good, I’m looking forward to it already. I’ve missed you these past few months. When will you be here?”
“I talked them into a Friday afternoon meeting, so I’m flying in Friday morning around eleven, and I don’t have to fly home until early Monday morning.”
“That’s the best news I’ve had in weeks,” Chris said. “Send me an e-mail with your flight time, and I’ll modify my schedule accordingly.”
