Chapter 1

The largest temple in the city of Sastan shone brightly under the dark night sky, its grandeur undiminished by the hour. High Priest Itu, instead of his usual prayers within the temple, stood by the window with his aged frame, illuminated by the light that cast a mottled shadow. The atmosphere in the serene temple was oppressive until the rhythmic footsteps shattered the silence. Itu entered the hall and sighed almost imperceptibly, "It has finally come." The attendants in the temple stood in line as a soldier in armor entered, his right hand over his heart and one knee slightly bent, paying homage to the High Priest, "High Priest Itu, the second son of the King is born. Please come to baptize and bless the second prince." "Very well," replied High Priest Itu, following the soldier out of the temple. The baptism proceeded in due course, Itu gazing upon the now bright violet eyes of the second prince, a loving smile curving his lips. "The second prince shall become a great king," Itu respectfully informed the current king. King Kekuris of Sastan chuckled softly, "Then, Itu, what name shall be bestowed upon the second prince?" "Kemanfier Sastan," Itu replied with lowered head. "Very well, Kemanfier it shall be, my son," Kekuris' deep voice resonated through the palace. The attendants in the palace all knelt, declaring in unison, "Prince Kemanfier is born, the baptism complete." High Priest Itu lifted his head to gaze at the radiant young prince and departed the palace. Walking through the corridors outside the palace, he couldn't help but think of the celestial movements he had recently divined, where the paths of the stars were in constant flux. Furrowing his brow, he murmured softly, "Will this continent remain peaceful?" His divinations had never been wrong, and behind this continent's facade lay anything but peace. He knew everything was uncertain, the fate of this continent shrouded in mystery. Hurrying back to the temple, High Priest Itu sensed that danger loomed ever-present, the current crisis only intensifying his sense of foreboding. Summoning a devout attendant, he retrieved a mahogany box from a hidden compartment on the table, wrapped it in cloth, and handed it to the attendant. "Largo, deliver this parcel to Duke Beips's mansion in Beips, and tell Duke Remont that this is a gift for his daughter's coming-of-age ceremony, to be presented in a few years." "Yes, Your Grace," Largo solemnly accepted the parcel and exited the temple. Itu gazed at the stars above, murmuring softly, "Will Lissa, who has slept for ten years, bring change to the fate of this continent?" He sighed deeply, slowly closing his wise eyes and letting his arms hang weakly... The next day, all the temple attendants mourned before the statue of the supreme god. The greatest prophet of Sastan, Itu, had returned to the embrace of the gods. It would be remembered that the greatest prophet Itu, after making his final prophecy, departed from this world. His last prophecy was: "The hidden splendor shall recede, tumult is manifesting, the daughter of the gods shall awaken, the wheel of destiny has turned, and everything changes from now on; the choices of destiny shall decide all." Largo, following High Priest Itu's instructions, boarded a carriage and made his way to Duke Remont's mansion in Beips. He was curious about this duke, not only because Duke Remont was a renowned nobleman in the capital but also because despite his scarce interactions with the nobility, his scholarship and martial skills were highly regarded among them. Especially notable was his marriage to a commoner's daughter instead of a match with noble maidens, a matter of great scandal at the time. Rumor had it that the woman Duke Remont married was exceptionally beautiful, although few had actually seen her, adding to her mystique. Particularly intriguing was the fact that after many years of marriage, they had only one daughter. Strangely, since her birth, their daughter had never opened her eyes and had remained in a deep slumber for nearly ten years. Despite her healthy condition, countless efforts by Duke Remont had failed to awaken her, causing him no end of anguish. High Priest Itu's request for Largo to deliver this parcel made him believe its contents were of utmost importance. But why would the High Priest ask for it to be delivered to the duke's daughter? Considering she had been asleep for a decade, was there any hope she might awaken? Yet, the High Priest's tone suggested otherwise. Regardless, his task was simply to deliver the message and the parcel. The carriage came to a halt, and Largo entered the duke's mansion. There were few maids and guards in the mansion, so he asked the steward to announce his arrival. Shortly thereafter, a maid led him to a guest room within the mansion. Just as he was about to sit down, Duke Remont himself walked in. Largo bowed respectfully, "It is an honor to meet you, esteemed Duke." "Does High Priest Itu have a message for you to deliver?" Remont cut straight to the point. "High Priest Itu instructed me to deliver this to you and said it is to be given to your daughter at her coming-of-age ceremony," Largo handed over the parcel. "Thank you for coming all this way. Would you care to dine here?" Remont accepted the parcel carefully. "No, the task is complete. I shall take my leave. Farewell, esteemed Duke," Largo breathed a sigh of relief and departed from the mansion. Remont simply nodded and had a servant escort him out. Duke Remont paced into the bedroom where his most beloved daughter lay on the white velvet bed. He looked at her with a hint of sorrow; almost a decade had passed, and yet his beautiful daughter had never opened her eyes. He gently stroked her lightly violet-hued hair, as if silently comforting either her or himself. The bedroom door opened, revealing a strikingly beautiful woman with delicate features and fiery red hair—Remont's wife, Cati Beips. She walked over to embrace Remont gently, "Oh, why is fate so cruel? Why can't our daughter open her eyes and see us?" "Cati, don't be sad," Remont pulled Cati to sit on the edge of the bed, "Don't worry. Remember, High Priest Itu prophesied that our beloved daughter will awaken on her tenth birthday. We only need to wait now." "But what if, what if our Lissa doesn't wake up? I..." Cati couldn't find the words, tears streaming from her reddened eyes. "Come now, do you not trust me?" Remont hugged Cati tightly, his voice choking with emotion, "Trust me, our Lissa will wake up. She surely will." Cati nodded in his arms, silent tears the only sound in the room. "It's only a few days until Lissa's tenth birthday," Remont's somber voice echoed softly through the room, perhaps only a few days left... "Lisa, Lisa, why won't you wake up, open your eyes and look at us, Lisa..." *Ding ding...* I casually turned off the alarm clock beside the bed, sighed once again. It's that dream again, recurring so frequently lately. In the dream, someone claims to be my parents, calling me Lisa. It gives me a headache. How could someone like me, an orphan for twenty years, possibly have parents? Besides, my name is Yang Yisha, a young professional in a modern company. My salary isn't low either. There's absolutely no connection between me and that Lisa. Why would someone call me that? Regardless, it's time to go to work now, securing my own livelihood is paramount. For me, growing up without affection and lacking financial support, I could only work and study simultaneously. Thankfully, the school waived some fees. Eventually, after much competition, I secured a position at a company. I'd say my life now is solely about earning money. At least, money is what enables me to live well. I walked into the office building at a leisurely pace. There were still few people in the company at this hour. I prefer arriving early, it allows me to plan my day well. After greeting a few colleagues, I entered my own office. Facing the computer, I started organizing the documents. One lively colleague had once asked me, "You're twenty years old now and quite good-looking. Why aren't you dating someone?" I remember my response back then was, "I'm not interested in dating right now. Making more money is more worthwhile than dating." The female colleague then looked at me disdainfully, saying I lacked romance. I've thought about it. With my appearance and white-collar job, finding a boyfriend shouldn't be difficult. However, I have zero experience in this area. I've never been loved nor have I ever had any expectations of love. All I remember from the fifteen years spent in the orphanage is that no one who claimed to be my parents ever visited me. Some people wanted to adopt me, but I had no connection with them and didn't want to rely on them. I think, it's always been just me, from before to now. *Dong dong dong...* The knocking interrupted my thoughts. "Yisha, may I come in?" A sincere male voice sounded. "Please come in." I raised my head and smiled at the man who had just entered. "Please have a seat." The man sitting across from me now was my boss, named Luyao, a young nobleman at the age of twenty-three, in the prime of his youth. He had a strikingly handsome appearance, truly a diamond in the rough. There were countless female employees in the company who eyed him, but he was indeed a highly sought-after commodity. But why was he here so early today? I looked at him in confusion. "Is there something you need, Manager Lu?" "Hehe." He chuckled a few times, looking at me. "What? Can't I come here if there's nothing specific? Didn't I tell you to call me Luyao? Isn't calling me 'Manager Lu' a bit too formal?" I gave him a glare I didn't expect him to find more amusing, but he did. I must admit, he had a kind of charm when he smiled. However, I still looked at him disdainfully, wondering what was so amusing. He was usually a cold and indifferent person in the company. How could he show such an expression to me? Indeed, one shouldn't judge a book by its cover; he must be quite cunning inside. I despised him inwardly. "What's wrong? What are you thinking?" The sincere male voice sounded in my ear. I was startled and looked up, only to see a close-up of his handsome face right in front of me. I instinctively recoiled, but he calmly sat back down across from me. "What's the matter? Do you have something to say?" I glared at him fiercely. He smiled faintly. "Of course, I have something to say. By the way, are you free for lunch? I'd like to invite you." "Invite me to lunch?" I looked at him suspiciously. "No effort, no gain. What's your intention?" "How do you know I have an intention?" He looked genuinely surprised. "Because you've been performing well at work, I wanted to treat you to a meal. Aren't you going to oblige me?" I smiled. "How could I not oblige you?" "Then, I'll pick you up at noon. Don't go alone." He stood up and looked at me before walking out of the office. I sighed helplessly and got back to work. I really had no way to refuse this boss of mine, especially considering how he'd helped me directly in the past. I wondered why none of the female employees in the company noticed his malicious nature?
