After I no longer had to spend every day in bed, I eagerly got up and exercised. I discovered that my body's flexibility now surpassed my imagination. Just trying a few exercises, I could perform movements that I had never been able to before, which was greatly encouraging for me. As a result, I practiced yoga more diligently every day, effortlessly accomplishing some of the more challenging poses.
My mother had watched me practice, but never asked. I think they indulged me with the most forgiving love without asking for anything in return. I am truly grateful to have loving relatives in this unfamiliar world.
However, occasionally, I still think about the world where I lived for twenty years and the distant Ruyao, who risked his life to save me. I feel guilty towards him and hope he is living well in that world.
With my body now in good condition, I no longer look as pale as before. As I look into the mirror, I once again marvel at the Creator's magic. This face is indeed incredibly beautiful, and I can't help but feel a sense of self-satisfaction. At least no one would dislike beauty. When Father comes to see me, he can't help but smile.
However, these happy days didn't last long, because I am a duke's daughter, and my status naturally requires me to learn noble etiquette. This is simply torture. Who would have thought that after receiving a Chinese education all my life, I would now have to conform to Western manners? It's truly depressing.
However, my experience speaks for itself. I can say that I have a very good understanding. I have attended some gatherings with Westerners in the company before, so I haven't missed any etiquette that needs attention. Mother always holds me and says, "My Lisa, you are simply perfect. Today you've finished learning tea ceremony, and tomorrow you will learn courtly dance. I will arrange for a professional dancer to teach you."
It started another day of miserable learning. I actually wanted to say that the dances I knew were traditional Chinese folk dances, but no one here understands that. Alas, I don't want to be a noble lady!
Although the training was hard, the results were significant. At least now, hehe, I'm elegantly sitting in the garden, sipping afternoon tea, and listening to the maids' gossip. It's nothing more than how elegant the young lord of Count Bao's family is, or which baron has married the daughter of a noble family. In short, I'm living my days leisurely. After spending some days together, I became more natural with the maids and attendants, especially with Emma, who is now loudly spreading news in my ear.
"Miss, you don't know how many people are curious about you now!" Emma danced on the side, I really don't know where she got so much energy.
"Oh? So what?" I took a sip of tea and asked lightly.
"Ah! Miss, you are the most understanding and beautiful noble lady I have ever seen. Those who can't see it are simply not fortunate!" Emma said, her eyes still shining as she looked at me.
I smiled, stood up, adjusted my bubble skirt, and walked into the room. Outside the door, Emma shouted loudly, "Miss, what I said is true, don't go!"
But she didn't have a chance to say anything more because Duke Raymond Beppes, my father, was waiting for me in the hall of the Duke's mansion, accompanied by an elderly man I had never seen before. He looked very old, as evidenced by his white hair and chestnut beard that reached his chest. However, he had wise eyes that radiated endless wisdom. His entire demeanor exuded a calm and peaceful aura; just standing by his side made me feel tranquility in both body and mind. I think he must be an extraordinary person, someone worthy of respect.
I curtsied and said softly, "Father, is there something you need from me?"
Father looked at me with satisfaction and nodded at me. "Lisa, this is Master Ambler."
I bowed to the wise old man. "Respected Master Ambler."
Ambler also smiled and nodded at me.
"Lisa, Master Ambler will be your magic class teacher from now on. You must study diligently under his guidance," Father instructed me seriously.
I was puzzled. "Magic?"
"Yes, you need to learn magic," Ambler said gently.
But wait, there's magic here? What kind of world have I come to? "Could you show me what magic is?" To be honest, I've only seen magic in sci-fi movies before, so I'm really curious about it.
"Sure, pay close attention. This is a simple beginner's water elemental magic." With that, Ambler softly chanted a spell. A small water sphere condensed at his fingertips, and he pointed his finger at a cup on the table. A long stream of water crossed the air, filling the cup. I couldn't help but widen my eyes; there really is magic, how amazing!
"How about that? Are you interested in learning?" Ambler stroked his long beard, smiling as he looked at me.
"I want to learn, I want to learn." I nodded vigorously. Magic is such a wonderful thing, how could I not want to learn it?
"Since that's the case, I will come to the mansion tomorrow to teach. Be prepared!" Ambler glanced at my father and nodded to him.
"What do I need to prepare?" I asked eagerly.
"It seems you really like magic. You need to prepare magic scrolls, potions, and a magic pen. However, your father will prepare all of these for you. You just need to get a good night's sleep and rest well." Ambler softly chanted another spell, and with a flick of his finger, tore open a c***k in the void. After stepping inside, he disappeared without a trace.
"Ah! What magic is this?" I leaned forward and waved my hand in the air, but felt nothing.
"This is spatial magic, mastered by no more than ten people across the entire continent," Father explained beside me.
"Wow, that's amazing!" I exclaimed. If I learned spatial magic, wouldn't it be convenient to go wherever I wanted?
"However, Father, how do I learn magic?"
"Master Ambler will teach you that tomorrow." Father affectionately patted my head. "Now, my dear Lisa, go rest well."
"Okay." I nodded and ran to the bedroom to lie down. Today was truly a fascinating day. I wonder what tomorrow's magic lessons will be like! I tossed and turned in bed, too excited to fall asleep. But strangely, aren't other noble ladies tutored by teachers too? Who is this Ambler? I'll ask Emma tomorrow, I thought drowsily, and fell asleep hearing a faint sigh.
The next day, I woke up earlier than usual. Today, I would finally learn what they call magic. From my understanding, magic is simply a powerful long-range attack. However, it seems that magic users are generally physically weak. I don't want to be a frail magician, so I really need to exercise well.
"Emma?" I called softly.
"Yes, Miss." Emma immediately came to me.
"Emma, do you know magic?" I was curious whether everyone in the Duke's mansion could do magic.
"Oh, my lady, how could I understand such profound things as magic! Magicians are very rare across the entire continent. A high-level magician could even become a baron." Emma's face lit up with a look of yearning, and her tone was fervent.
"Why are magicians so few? Can't anyone learn magic?" I still didn't understand. If magicians are so prestigious, why wouldn't people want to learn magic?
"My lady, magic isn't something everyone can learn. It depends on one's own magic talent and understanding of magic. Some people practice for many years and still can't sense magical elements!" Emma explained, her tone becoming noticeably discouraged. "Like me, I just can't learn magic."
"Isn't learning magic very difficult then? What should I do? Today, I'm supposed to learn magic!" I lamented, lowering my head. What if I couldn't learn it?
"Ah! Miss wants to learn magic? That's fantastic! Miss will surely become the greatest magician!" Emma enthusiastically grabbed me, and I couldn't help but smile wryly. How could she believe in me so much?
