26th December 2010 “I promise,” someone whispered. Yazid started, and blinked at Ali’s face in the gloom. It wasn’t him who’d spoken, however—the heroine of the made-for-TV-movie flickering on the box sighed gustily, and scorned her lover. “What the—?” A heavy layer of warmth was settling into place, and there was a gentle pressure against his ear as Ali’s serene face creased into a gentle smile. Yazid blinked again, and his brain sluggishly caught up. Asleep. He must have dozed off. “S’just me.” Ali’s voice was a low, soothing murmur. Yazid let himself be pulled down against a bare chest.
