19th March 2015 Ali didn’t realize he’d dozed off until the rattle of the hotel room door roused him. He blinked sleepily at Yazid as the man juggled the light switch, the door handle, and two shopping bags. “Alright, beautiful,” Yazid said cheerily, “I found ginger tea, got a funny look off the woman in Tesco for all the biscuits, and I even managed to rustle up some dark chocolate.” Ali smiled fondly, struggling to sit up against the pillows and rubbing the heels of his hands over his eyes.
