The Crown and Its Jewels

Humans covered the entire Earth after the Earth was cleansed with multiple disasters. With the biggest one known to men - the massive comet, that devastated all life on the planet including the dinosaurs.

Then come along Adam and Eve, and the stories that comes with it have created a diverse mixture of religion, beliefs and races around the world.

The diversity brought upon humans created lies and distrust, causing fights and wars. As the world goes through a change of era as time passes, there comes a subtle beginning of an evolution unknown to mankind.

Somewhere in the South East Asia seawaters, before the 14th century.

A small sampan (a small wooden boat in Malay language) was set out in sea. There, sat two humans, a man in his 40s and a young boy in his early teens.

With the simple tools that they have, they were in hopes to some catch for the family back on the island.

The young boy glanced at the older man, quietly observing his father. His father was in the midst of repairing the fishing net that was made of dried fibers that they have obtained from the tropical plants near their home.

“Pa,” He called out, biting his lower lip nervously.

“Hmm?”

“We have been out here for quite some time,” The boy began, catching a glance at his father before looking down, “Do you think we are able to get any food back to Ma?”

His father brushed his hands on the small cloth that covered the lower half of his body minimally. He stood up and looked on to the sea, trying to check which part of the sea would be the best for him to catch at least one fish to bring home.

“Pa?”

“We have to get one today...” His father answered, “We are running out of food to feed the whole family,”

The boy gave a long quiet sigh and looked down at his toes. He flicked a fallen leaf off his feet just as the wind started to pick up.

That’s strange, the wind have never picked up that fast before...

He looked up and took in the sudden change of the clouds that was hanging over their small sampan, his eyes going wide in alarm at the sight.

“Pa...” His voice trembled in fear just as a loud c***k broke through the sky and a split second of flash blinded his eyes.

“We have to go...NOW!” Shouted his father, who was trying to grab the wooden oar to row back.

The boy tried to help his father, kicking the oar to his father just as the sudden wind changed direction.

It was from then, the two spotted a huge boat that was riding against the wind. However, it was not the boat that caught their attention, but the way the weather was raging at the boat.

It was endlessly being striked by lightning and the waves surrrounding them was extremely high and dangerous. The boy watched as the crew threw numerous crates overboard.

The boy and the father watched on, not realising that the waves were bringing them closer to the disaster that was unfolding in front of their eyes.

The father blinked, realising too late that they were dangerously close and were in danger themselves. He opened his mouth to shout to his son just as his son stood up.

The weather became fiercer than before, as the lightning strike began to strike around an individual that was on the ship.

Hands reached on the crown that was sitting on the individual’s head before he made the decision to throw it overboard.

The father tried to reach for his son who was strangely enchanted by the scene before another c***k in the sky was heard and a flash blinded him.

The small sampan broke in half and both the father and son found themselves in the waters. The father wathed as the son tried to reach and swim to him. The father tried to swim towards him but felt that he was binded around his ankle.

He watched as his son struggled to reach him but was unable to move an inch closer or nearer to him. A gold crown with various jewels was thrown in the water, falling down to into the deep dark depths of the sea.

The next thing, the father saw was his son was sinking down together with the crown as if the crown was tied to the son’s ankle.

And with the lack of oxygen that he have left, he found himself blacked out in the water.
