Part 3| Ronit Shenoy

TWO YEARS AGO… The deprecating rays of the setting sun were piercing past the window rims. It fell on her exhausted face, lingering on her forehead for a while and brightening her puffy-red eyes as a sharp whimper slipped through her lips, followed by a deep scoff. I could see everything through the camera installed in the car. She was chained and handcuffed even though it was not necessary. Its sharpness was as pricky as a blade. I could see how it almost pierced into her soft skin. It broke my heart. It was the first pang of connecting energy that I’d ever felt as my hands itched to pick up the phone and command my beta to let it lose. It wasn’t entirely the blade’s fault that it wasn't made for the delicate skin of my mate. Scarlet was some twenty-one. Her subtle softness was not made to be chained and held back. Instead, it was handcrafted for the serpents. Yes, the restraints were designed to torture those filthy enemies who could not do anything better than invade through and challenge. ‘I should not do this.’ A voice in my heart had whispered. It was upset with my wolf’s boldness–an only act of morality. I could not think longer for Scarlet wiggled and wept in the back seat of the car that was crossing the speed limit, headless to any rule or warning embedded on the boards placed alongside the highway. She was desperate to somehow get rid of the cuffs. Alas, it was near impossible. It frustates her as she’d only to end up feeling all the more irritated and restless. ‘Mmm…mmm…m….’ She tries to scream again as she peeped out of the black tinted glasses of the Land Cruiser that was specially designed for my needs. There was nothing much she could do but accept her faith that was with me. The posh whitness of the Alpha City was there welcome her. I could see she was not pleased with the view when she came face to face with the skyscraper and marvelling peice of architecture. The vastness of the pack was terrifying for someone who’d spent a major chunk of her life near the port. My beta was having the time of his life, flirting and playing with the wind, enjoying the leisure for ages; as if mocking her, giggling at her misery and enjoying her sorrows. Vihaan had always been like that. He was free of anxiety, uncertainty and fear which had always filled me with pride, but that day I wanted him to make an exception. I wanted him to understand her vulnerability and becoem soft on her because I could not. I could only show her my passion. I have lost all the luxuries. I was stripped out of sympathatic confessions the moment I fell in love with her. It was a blessing that I had lost with time. A blessing, I had before I had met her. I don’t regret any moment. I cherish every bit of it The moment when my eyes had fallen upon her! If only it was in my hands, I would have rewinded and revisited that minute forever. It was the purest thing I had ever seen happening. Her face! I shuffle my chair closer to the screen. Scarlet had turned her head in the opposite direction, unable to withstand the apparent mockery of my beta anymore. She wanted to scream. She was trying to cry. She wanted to yell at the him and perhaps at me to let it know how vulnerable and helpless she was feeling. I did not want it to happenl. I did not want to tie her up like some cattle and abduct her. She worthed my love and respect. She worthed my whole universe. Only, if she had looked within me–accepted my love. I had not had to got to the extremes.
