A set of the four most idiotic people in the world whom I call my friends pat me on the shoulder.
The bar reeks of alcohol, cigarettes, sweat, and riches. There are bodies everywhere: swaying on the beats, sitting on the sides, weeping, chirping. I look at the pretty faces under gloomy lights.
Yes! It is another absolutely terrifying thing. It is an exclusive world of riches. They are always pretty and surrounded by happy people. Happy, sad, intoxicated, done with life, and I am at the top of the world. You can see it on their faces. It is the place where we drop out masks. It is absolute. It was like the world of dreams where we strip out our sorrows and let ourselves lose for the time being.
'Just drop it off, Rudra.' Ronit yells over the blasting music. I nod.
My phone buzzes in my pocket, interrupting my chain of thoughts. I shuffle through my pockets and snatch the phones out. At the end of the stanza of some dope music, I receive the call by swiping the green arrow flashing on my brand new phone. It is the third phone of the week.
I often let my temper out on my phone. I've started to behave differently.
'Ya'dude, I'll be there in five,' Ayaan yells in a high voice dripping with enthusiasm and child-like excitement and hung up the call without waiting for a reply. It isn't surprising though. Ayaan is always like this. He only conveys half the information in excitement, the remaining half, we are left on our own to figure out.
'Who?' Ronit asks.
'Ayaan.' I reply.
'Where?'
'No idea.' I scroll through my recent contact list when my phone rings again. It's Ayaan. I chuckle at the screen and receive the call.
'Yo bro! What is the place again? Where did you say it was?' The Alpha asks. I can overhear the loud honks. He could be in the middle of the traffic for all I know.
'I will share the live location. Follow the directions.' I tell him and hear a mild 'hump' in answer or so I presume. I shake my head and pull my phone away from my ear.
My fingers hover at the 'End call' icon when I hear his muffled voice again. 'Okay, but what's the matter? Look, bro, I ain't in the mood to apply ointment on someone's burn. If any one of us has been through a rough segment, tell them to die.' He says.
I roll my eyes at his blunt savageness. 'Just bring your ass here.'
