Begin A New Journey

My pulse is elated. My pupils are diluted. I am gasping for every breath. My heartbeats are frantic and I feel as if I would pass out any moment now. My forehead glistens with visible beads of sweat. Underneath my three-piece, I am sweat-soaked. And I don't have a heart attack. I peep at the wall clock and gulp loudly. I only have twenty minutes left to answer more than thirty-five questions. These ones need a subjective approach and I would have to solve most of them to get the right match among the four alternative answers given. I am a gold medalist at school. I have graduated with flying colours. I am not boosting about it. These preliminary exams have to be a piece of cake for me. Unfortunately, it ain't. Indeed, the gazette did not lie when it claimed the examination standards to be very high. 'Fifteen minutes left!' The invigilator announces. I scorn at him ready to snap his neck in two. I am already pretty nervous. He need not remind me of the time I am left with. I could have spared those three seconds of distraction for a solution. Still, when I have looked up, I won't do any harm to have a once over. 'How was your exam?' I ask her as soon as I spot her leaning against the car. Aary looks stunning in the formals. Her freshly dyed blonde hair is pinned in a perfect ponytail that wobbles over with every shake and nod. A dark summer glass is secured to her nose, radiating the rich diva look. 'I'll pass.' She nods with a pout. Honestly, I do not hold high hopes for her when it comes to exams. I try hard not to let it reflect on my face. It's highly unlikely she has not read my face. She has become quite an observer nowadays. She can read my expressions and talk intelligently about her observations in great depth. 'I am passing. Do you not believe me? I attempted all the questions diligently. I will pass.' She stomps her heel on the ground and folds her hands to her chest. Her nostrils are flared. 'I have studied whole nights. I was up revising. They did cover some questions that were doubtful and I will be honest that I might have gotten some wrong. Maybe I will not top but I will not fail too. It's now up to your performance. If we get kicked out because of you,' She warns.
