I opened my eyes to the sound of Vic moving quietly around the room and sat up. “What are you doing?” When Vic didn’t answer right away, I looked at my phone charging on the bedside table. Three a.m. It hadn’t even been five hours since the crowd had emptied out of the house. “Is everything OK?” “I’m going back to work.” “Now?” What about having breakfast together every morning? “I think I figured something out.” I almost pressed for information.
