Kyle had made a point to stay on every county road and hunting trail he could find. He had to stay off the main road because the police were still looking for him. He could most likely charm his way out of it if a single officer stopped him, but if there were several, or he encountered a roadblock, he would be sunk.
He had been driving for hours, and he had to take a break. Kyle was sincerely thankful that Josey had filled the gas tank and even left a can of gas for him in the back of the truck.
