“Can I call now before I lose my nerve, or do we need to take off?” Carrie asked.
“I will ask Carter to wait to take off until you are finished,” Drew said, tucking a curl behind her ear.
Carrie let out an explosive breath before saying, “OK. I’m calling my mom.”
While Carrie dialed her mother, Drew quickly mind linked Carter and asked him to hold tight until the call was completed. Carter happily agreed before Drew broke the link upon hearing Carrie’s voice beside him. Drew was quiet as he listened to both sides of the conversation, thanks to his enhanced werewolf hearing.
