By the time Zed turned into a long driveway that seemed to disappear into the dark, the rain was coming down in sheets. Immense live oaks flanked the driveway, with Spanish moss whipping about on their branches in the storm. It was equally beautiful and eerie, and they crept along the crushed-gravel drive toward lights that had come into view as they rounded a gentle curve. A sprawling three-story, plantation-style home came out of the gloom. The covered porch on the first floor contained comfortable-looking chairs. The second and third floors had wraparound covered balconies to allow the same use and fresh air as the porch. Dee was beginning to doubt the idea of moving back to Montana after seeing the house.
