The hospital room was filled with the morning sun. Enzo had been with Hailey all night, and he wanted to stay the day as well if he was allowed. During the night, Simone had come in a couple of times to check the window locks and ensure things were secure. Nurse Mary had come in a few times to check on Hailey. She would check her vital signs, giving a satisfied nod before patting Enzo on the shoulder and leaving him to be with his mate.
Enzo was sitting beside Hailey, once again holding her hand so that the back of it was pressed to his cheek. Occasionally, she responded to his touch by giving a grunt or groan that was barely audible. Enzo had worried about it but had been assured by Mary that Hailey was perfectly fine, and it was a good sign.
