“I will teach her everything she needs to know and probably many things she doesn’t need to know,” Evelyn laughed.
“You really think that much of Carrie?” Grayson asked.
“I do,” John confirmed. “To be honest, I wish Hailey were a bit more like Carrie.” John paused, thinking of the revelations from the previous day. “Carrie is always focused on the future and those around her. Hailey is focused on the now and herself. While it is fine to take part in spur-of-the-moment activities, to live your life focused on them and only what you will gain from them never ends well for anyone.”
“Drew told us about her and Carrie’s boyfriend. It is a pity for someone to do that to a friend,” Grayson said.
“It is, and Hailey is living with those consequences now,” John sighed.
