“Thank you for coming with me tonight, Kat. Prom wouldn’t have been fun without you.” A deep voice reverberated. His voice was like swimming in heaven. I couldn’t get enough of it.
“Of course! I was so glad I got the chance to escape the empty house and join you for a few dances. I just wish we could be together longer,” I sighed at the thought of going back home and laying in my bed all alone. With my father always being at work and mother always on the road, I was usually alone eighty percent of the time.
I looked over at the handsome man in the driver's seat and smiled. I was one lucky gal to have such an amazing man like Xavier. For a few minutes I stared out the window before dozing off; however, there was something jumbled in between. Something was spoken. Was it me who said something? Was it Xavier? I couldn’t remember.
The next thing I remember was waking up in Xavier’s arms and seeing my father standing at the front door of our two-story home. “Dad,” is all I could muster through the fog of my mind.
