18 Michael “Damn it.” I sputtered, placing the full cup of coffee back on my heated coffee thingy I’d bought to keep it warm, yet could never remember to turn on. It was the third cup of coffee that had grown cold since I’d arrived at work. I had barely slept, and caffeine was a necessity if I was to get anything done today. All I thought about as I tossed and turned in bed last night was Spencer, who’d opted to spend the night at his place, and what was happening at the Bluebird Arms apartments. It made me sick to my stomach thinking about those poor people living there having their lives ruined by someone who didn’t have a shred of humanity, only an eye for his bank balance.
