“Michael,” the receptionist poked her head through the door. “Spencer Talbot is here to see you.” She held the door open as he walked in, then she shut it behind him. He stood in front of my desk not saying anything. My cheeks warmed, and I realized I had to break the silence before it became overwhelming. “So this is where the magic happens.” I laughed awkwardly, standing up. I didn’t know whether to hug him, shake his hand, or pull him into the embrace I’d fantasized about since seeing him again.
